Famicompo mini: The largest annual NSF competition.
Although the rules and details haven't been posted yet, the dates have been announced. Submissions will be accepted 8-15 through 8-31.
We can look forward to hearing great new tunes by some of the best 8-bit artists. You'd better get tracking! The deadline is a little more than a month away.

Good.

FamiTracker really has to be able to create modules using more than one expansion chip at a time.

in order to enter famicompo? or are you just saying that? eitherway it isn't necessary, but multiexpansion is coming in future.

just heard about famicompo earlier today, excellent news, and i'm glad it's back to its summer spot. i don't think i'll do a lot this time, maybe just one cover and one original. i'll make them better than my entries last year though.

Famicompo Mini, eh? I wonder what would the contestants be competing for (other than fame).

I'm gunna enter. How do some of the people make nsf files with n106 or 5b? Is there a better program than famitracker that does it?

they use ppmck or it2nsf. they aren't objectively better, in fact i think there's more of a learning curve with both.

fun, musical experience, for the act of taking part in something etc. usually when the tracks are released we sync-listen to them in #mod_shrine, it's a laugh.

Really, the fact that a competition makes people make higher quality songs. This is usually the case, and you get like 10-15 songs that are excellent per compo (in each category, if there are like 80 entries).

And about two joke entries that rely on the DPCMs only, about four entries using any channel for 'vocals', about three entries that use 5 sound chips for chord progressions and you get an idea of what FamiCompo Mini's most outstanding entries are.

Awesome... This means I'd better drastically improve my Clubbed To Death cover if I want to submit something! :P

Oh, by the way, everybody: Traditionally, famicompo entries are stripped of their headers so that nobody knows who composed what, until voting is finished.

You're not supposed to submit anything that has been released already, and you're not supposed to say which song(s) you submitted. It's a surprise! Admittedly, there's no consequence if you break these 'rules' (besides maybe taking a little fun out of it).

Chibitech will still probably guess if you wrote your songs though... he's pretty crazy.

I'd like to submit! except the page is in foreign characters, and for some reason google won't translate it. Is there anyway to get the info on the fami-compo website to english?

Well, I gather that the web master's e-mail is joseph_at_zophar.net (I replaced @ with _at_ to prevent spammers,) so your best bet would be to contact this guy. Otherwise, I'm stumped.

you can't submit things until august 15th

you can use a site like translate.google.com to translate the page from Japanese to English if you want
