That's why I'm talking life lessons; to keep you from worrying about your skill level. Just keep working at it & you'll improve your new-found skills (which are really good as they currently stand).

One problem: I seem only to do good after going to drive-in movies.

Sorry for doing a double post AND bumping this topic!

I upgraded the song from scratch. Took out alot of stuff, added some things, changed some things. I know that the "05" in the instrument column on one of channels all the way through was useless, but I was bored, so I just held the 5 button.

I still need a name for it. Any suggestions are welcome!

With 8-bit music, it's a bad idea to just hold a note at full volume. Try adding a decay to your notes.

(I usually keep my instruments at 2/3rds or less of full volume just so the DPCM and triangle channels aren't drowned out)

It still sounds pretty good, though.

There is definitely an improvement jump here...

I loved pattern 07's noise/instrument sweep. THAT was something I don't think I've heard done before on FamiTracker (abbrev. FT).

Seems like you've gained your bearings on FT. Keep building experience, kinkinkijkin.

Tadpole, I think I fixed it how you wanted me to. Also, I need to know what effect I could use to prevent "loud/quiet/duty" cycling when using square and sawtooth instruments/channels at the same time.

Yes, I like what you did there with the decay. But what about the note you're holding on 2a03 channel 2 at full volume (on frame 4 and onward)?

Use the Pxx effect when doubling channels. P80 = in tune, P81+ sharpens the note, P7F- flattens the note. Also, lowering one channel an octave can help to thicken the sound.

Also, instead of just cutting the notes, why not let them ring a little with v1? It kind of gives the illusion of reverb.

All I understood of that was turn down square 2, use P80 for good.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. What I'm saying is if you have two channels playing the same notes, you can detune one of them using the Pxx command to get a thicker sound.

Also, instead of using note cuts, try just dropping the volume to 1 using the volume column.

The note cuts are more of a stop. I like more stop.
