I'm trying to do an electro type beat with a shuffle. Anyone know how I can do this easily?

Everything sounds so straight with the sixteenth notes. Do I have to change the type and convert everything basically into cut up triplets?

You can, but you can also use the effects column to change the song's speed on the fly, whenever you need (it depends on your track's layout, though).

The best thing to do, though, is to adjust the space between your notes & to change the overall speed/tempo of the project file.

Yeah, I was using the effects column to change the speed on the fly in order to get that shuffled beat, but I ended up making a measured frame that was in a really odd time which went too fast for me to compose a melody.

I'll try your suggestion and adjust the overall speed/tempo, but I think I'll do it for another song -- I'm really new to this program and I don't think my knowledge of the corresponding tracks is sufficient enough to do it mid-song.

Thanks though! I really do appreciate the help.

there's a few things you can do. i believe it is possible to achieve a shuffled rhythm with Fxx commands though that seems more convoluted than it needs to be. if the entire song you're making/transcribing has a shuffled rhythm it'd be more sensible to space notes in multiples of 3s rather than 2s.

however if you plan on using shuffled rhythm only sporadically (or maybe just some triplet notes here and there for drumbreaks etc.) you can try using note delay. values G02 and G04 work best for me although it varies depending on your speed and tempo settings (and sometimes it isn't possible to get it perfect.)

Alright. Thanks, Dave! I was just thinking of doing it in multiples of three but wasn't sure if it could be done -- thanks for confirming it for me!
I'll try both methods though and see what works best for me.
