Well, even though it's a very short bit that you've uploaded, it's very interesting.

You have a pretty good use of effects here, but you can improve on (at least) volume control.

When you see the tracker's main window, you should see a bunch of dashes for each column:

--- -- - ---
--- -- - ---
--- -- - ---
--- -- - ---

I'm sure you already know full well about the first five dashes from the left (the note & instrument columns). The sixth dash from the left is a good place for you to experiment; it's the volume control column.

You can use the numbers 0-9 & the letters A-F for controlling the volume (0 being the lowest & F being the highest). This means you can do volume adjustments & even volume fades in places where you feel a note shouldn't be sustained.

The three dashes from the right side is the effects column. If you use a value of A0x (where x is any number,) you can create volume fade-outs. Using Ax0 would create a volume fade-in.

Well, I think he did a very good job on explaining the volume control. What do you not understand?

I can explain it a bit better.

Before you start off with famitracker, you have a screen that looks like this (I'm only displaying the first two sound channels for the sake of text formatting on this forum, which isn't the greatest):

- Square 1 - |- Square 2 -
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---

Now, lets add some notes:

- Square 1 - |- Square 2 -
C-3 00 - --- | G-2 00 - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
E-3 00 - --- | C-2 00 - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---

And now, let's add a decrescendo in that big gap of empty space between the notes (a decrescendo means you're fading out the volume):

- Square 1 - |- Square 2 -
C-3 00 F --- | G-2 00 F ---
--- -- C --- | --- -- C ---
--- -- 9 --- | --- -- 9 ---
--- -- 6 --- | --- -- 6 ---
--- -- 3 --- | --- -- 3 ---
--- -- 1 --- | --- -- 1 ---
E-3 00 F --- | C-2 00 F ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---

This is a very linear decrease in volume, but it's only an example.

Similarly, you could do this instead (for a smoother volume fade):

- Square 1 - |- Square 2 -
C-3 00 F A00 | G-2 00 F A00
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - A03 | --- -- - A03
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---
E-3 00 F A00 | C-2 00 F A00
--- -- - --- | --- -- - ---

Where you see the single column of alphanumerics is the volume column; use numbers from 0-9 & letters from A-F to indicate volume (note: this is the hexadecimal number system; instead of counting from 0-9, you count from 0-F).

Where you see the column of 3 alphanumerics is the effects column (where Axx is the volume fade-in/out effect).

If you can't understand my diagrams, just copy this entire response & paste it into Notepad.

Any time.

It takes practice to use FamiTracker, but I've also noticed that it takes research. I've learned only the basics from practicing with the program; I've learned everything else by posting & reading posts on this forum.

That said, I still have lots to learn (& I've only recently learned about the use of the Axx effect from nicetas_c).
