Though I've been able to bypass it by making many instruments, there's a glitch with the triangle that makes it so you cannot access triangle's volume or effects.

I've had that problem too, I can't seem to change the volume on my triangle...
*facepalm*

OK... I'm not mean enough to leave it at that. It's not a glitch. There is no volume control for the triangle. It's either 100% or off.

The best way to control volume (as nicetas_c showed me,) was to use the Zxx effect in the DPCM channel.

Note that the triangle, DPCM & noise channels are all internally linked together (because that's how it is in the original hardware). This means, even though certain effects don't work in the triangle channel, some that work in the DPCM channel can directly affect it.

For example, let's say you're playing a C-4 00 in the triangle channel. It sounds loud & volume is maxed out.

Now, in the DPCM channel, don't play a note, but type in ZFF in the effects column; when you play the triangle channel's note again, it will sound muffled/softer than normal (even though the volume is still at maximum).

That said, you can't control volume in the triangle channel through normal methods.

Sorry,
A.I don't use the DCPM channel. Yet.
B.I got bored after the first sentence. But I did notice the code to control triangle.

I'm glad you saw that. To be frank, you don't really need to know how to add sample sounds to use the DPCM channel. Here's how the DPCM channel would look like if you used nothing but that effect I told you about:

--- -- - ZFF

And that's all you'd need to type in there. You can then use the triangle channel for everything else. It's a little trick I used for one of my songs (check the attachment; it's a good demonstration of it. It doesn't use the DPCM channel to play any samples).

It's a very basic song, but it demonstrates what I wrote about.

Well, I meant I don't use the DCPM. PERIOD. Ever since I learned that it's not a drum assist, I haven't even CLAIMED usong it.

Ah. Don't worry about that; there's a tutorial on using the DPCM in this site's wiki.

But to let you know, even though it's not a drum-assist channel, it can be used as such. As a matter of fact, I've only learned 3 uses for DPCM; a drum-assist, a voice assist & a clever way of affecting the triangle & noise channels.

Once you learn about it, you'll see that it's fairly simple to use (though the mechanics of if are complicated).

Yeah, I will. I learned how to use trackers on my first use of FamiTracker. All I did was pressed p.
