This ended up sounding closer to the original Game Boy version than I expected. The percussion line is different, but that's the only major difference.

Wow! That's Awesome! I never come further than World 2 in SML, and i think that this theme is the best in the whole game, cause i listened to the whole soundtrack on YouTube :D

Sweet job, furrykef. It actually does sound closer to the original than I'd expect, too.

Listening to it in Nestopia now. It's pretty good. I haven't played the game, but this sounds like it's probably really close.

WOW! Played (and love) the game, you are 99.9% accurate. I made one minor tweak to the drums at the beginning of the song to make it sound IDENTICAL to the game's song itself.

Not even the bass waveform is the same, how come you say that this is identical?

The samples are wrong. On top of that, Gameboy only has four channels!

The Gameboy's noise channel is superior than the NES one as well.

So no, no one can say that Gameboy covers are greater than 70% accurate without a GBS2MIDI.

Eh, it has more pitches it can be set to, but its "random" loop is much shorter and always sounds dumber to me, plus there are some sounds on the NES's noise channel you can't really reproduce on the Gameboy.

Well, the bassform would be more accurate if you used the FDS Channel

I meant in the notes, not the sound. Besides, who would want something IDENTICAL to the gameboy one. Just go listen to it then! SHEESH!

Even though it's a given that, as nicetas already pointed out, we cannot create even close to somewhat accurate covers without a program like GBS2MIDI, accurate envelopes and instruments are important if the creator decides to do something in the style of that particular piece.

In contradiction to what you stated, tdude10, what is the point of making a inaccurate cover (on a platform similar to that it was originally created) and posting it publicly? Besides, would this not be moreso considered a remix with the addition of DPCM?

I will consider it a remix when I make it an mp3 from fl studio 9 and post it here. simply that. AND!!!... I wouldn't consider this innacurate (in contradiction to what I originally posted, it's not completely accurate. There is a MINOR difference in the noise catagory). I listened to both through my audio system.

Identity means both the notes and the sound, otherwise it is just similarity.

And I want something identical no matter you want it or not. And there you go for the FDS waveform:

0 0 4 4 8 8 12 12 20 20 24 24 28 28 32 32 36 36 36 36 36 36 32 32 28 28 24 24 24 24 28 28 36 36 40 40 52 52 60 60 60 60 56 56 48 48 36 36 32 32 20 20 16 16 8 8 4 4 4 4

OK, Mr. Dictionary, If you can find a way for version 0.3.5. to NOT glitch when I try to open my songs that I had created in it, then I can use FDS.

1) Open a version of FamiTracker that does not cause data loss, e.g. 0.3.0.
2) Open FamiTracker 0.3.5.
3) Copy and paste everything.
4) Save your new module.

Unless you have hacked FamiTracker 0.3.5. and certain modules such that FamiTracker 0.3.5. will always crash upon opening these modules, then I have no reason to help you.

no, original works in 0.3.5. won't load. <- Period. I have not hacked, it just won't open. AND, the one I'm trying to open is an FDS module, so only 0.3.5. or newer will be able to open it!
