Urgh, now I know why no one's done remakes of Commando Man or Blade Man. Both are very non-megamanish. Blade Man sounds like it was made by a virt-wannabe. (I say that of course because of my frustration with making both songs, both were the ones I've dreaded doing the most)
Anyway, all are pretty much done. Only the credit roll remains.
"Blade Man sounds like it was made by a virt-wannabe."
The first time I had heard Blade Man's theme, this is about the first thing I was thinking. Especially that part after the main melody, where it gets all subtle.
Some of the notes in the endless stage sound like they last a little too long, specifically around frame 08 or so. Everything else in the song sounds entirely accurate regardless. Nice work!
Yeah, Endless went through multiple different ways of doing that melody. I tried the "cut frame before next note" method but then the notes were too short. I came to the conclusion that the original song stopped the notes on timings the 2A03 could not replicate, so I settled on that.
Anyway yeah, it's as if they were like "Wow that virt guy really kicked our asses in technicality on that "Rock Man Chip-Tuned" album..we better try to kick back.." and miserably failed. It's another song that I believe was created by the Mega Man 8 composer.
EDIT: The Credit Roll is about 70% complete. Most of SQ1/SQ2/TRI is done (I get to figure out the ending arpeggio now)...then I have to do all the drums for the entire song. After that, the NSF is COMPLETE.
DONE. First post updated. Damn I'm tired. That credit roll literally took about 8 hours to remake. I wish I was kidding.
I'm not going to be fixing any more mistakes, this version of the file has been mass-distributed to Zophar, and to someone who may do recordings of it via nes hardware. If you hear any problems or differences, get used to them. :D It's time I moved on! Can't spend as much time on this as I did on MM9. Ugh. Gotta make a living now.
(The most tedious song in the entire soundtrack to remake)
but oh so worth it. best tune on the soundtrack <3
thanks for doing this. i'm not totally familiar with the OST so any inaccuracies probably won't stand out to me. are you planning to make an NSFE later?
You like blade man's song? I disliked it a lot. Haha. Oh well. Anyway, no, no NSFE from me. Someone else can pop the timings into the NSFE and distribute it themselves.. I'm ..ugh..so done with this soundtrack. Haha.
You're awesome for taking the time to do this! It came out great. Like many others I haven't been exposed to the whole OST, so this will be the definitive version for me. It's the OST that has mistakes as far as I'm concerned. After all yours is more accurate to the real hardware! ^_^
Good work on the soundtrack. I had the chance to hear a few songs and it sounds good. Like mentioned before, I don't really like the soundtrack per se but your rendition are always good so I have to listen to it
Excellent work tssf. I am amazed by the quality of both your Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10 NSFs. Thank you for the incredible effort that you put into these projects.

No, he means that there are parts that are possible to do on hardware, but he didn't cover perfectly. Special stage 2 is an example of this, the first note plays 5 times, but in his NSF it plays only 4.. little things like that, and it's not likely he'll redo those things as he said.
Good job on this though-- nice to have a legit version of these.
Well, then that's even better, and you're even more awesome for putting in the extra effort. As an artist myself, I can well imagine why you would be compelled to fix things even after expressing exhaustion with the project. ^_^
I fixed it regardless, along with so many other problems that were found by other youtube viewers. First post is updated.
Thanks for the update. One the subject of timing issues, there seems to be a timing problem in the Commando Man track. Something seems rushed at the transition between frames 03 and 04. It's almost as if the pause between the frames is too long or the first two notes in frame 04 are too short/close. There is a similar transition between frames 0A and 0B, but the tempo sounds correct there. Just thought that I would point this out.
