I find the percussion in these songs to be fine, it gives it a very nice nes feel to it. On the other hand, I find percussion to be very important and shouldn't be ignored. It can easily make or break a song and also be easily used as a center piece.
Maybe I should have phrased that better. I suck at making innovative drum beats, so they tend to be more of a background sound then a center piece. But I agree that many genres of music are actually based on the beat itself.
As much as I love Slayer...I've not been able to even choose a song to cover, because either the singing is boring and monotonous, or the riffs are repetitive. Also i've started working on 2 new Originals, so that's been taking my time. I'll think about it.....Or maybe if you need help with some parts, I'd rather just help out than do a full cover myself. I love Slayer, but it looks boring as hell to cover.
Also I was scared to give up half-way like I did on a Metallica project that failed a while back.
