Maybe something like SuperNSF would be better for a Harder Better Faster Stronger cover. Make it as a IT file, then turn it into nes, so you can use higher quality samples.

I could have done some quick comment, but nothing that withdraws the attention from this thread. Still, yours is nice too, but also pointless, although it's still fun.
If you want to do something really cool with DPCM? Encode a song as DPCM then cover it with 2a03 instruments on top, to cover for DPCM's deficiencies at e.g. high frequency information.
Or do something like Strobe's amazing Arcana Symbiosis (Winter Chip 8, Battle of the Bits).

I wouldn't suggest making the entire song in DPCM. It ruins the overall creativity of what you can do. Maybe try something more like this version i made from your cover?
I don't know; the staticky "radio" compression you get in the intro can be used very well as a musical garnish (like the intro to this excellent song) but if you just half-ass it all the way and it turns to DCPM compression then
I agree completely. That's why if you want to make the song in DPCM, then the intro is the best part do it in. Going any further beyond that point makes it seem like there was no effort what so ever.
