This is largely in response to Midna's version of the Lemmings soundtrack. Otherwise I probably wouldn't be posting it until it's finished.

Songs marked "DONE" in all-caps mean I consider them "finished" in the sense that I find it acceptable with no other changes, though I may still tweak them anyway. "done" in lowercase means the tune is complete, but has some problems, so don't be surprised if you hear something that sounds a bit weird. If it doesn't say "done" at all, well, it's probably barely started, if started at all.

The tunes are based almost entirely on the original Amiga version. I reworked the timing of the notes of Ten Lemmings so as to be more listenable, though.

If anybody wants to help me finish this, I wouldn't mind, 'cause I'm probably never gonna get it done otherwise. (I have MOD files of all the original tunes if it'd help. I used them extensively in making this.)

Made with FT 0.3.5.

- Kef

(EDIT: It sure helps to attach the file, huh?)

Wow, sounds great! I loved Lemmings as a kid.

Just a few things I noticed though:
It seems to have a few incorrectly timed notes (most notably on #3 at 0D - 0F). A couple of others sounded slightly off but I couldn't quite make out what it was... But also, some of the songs where so accurate and some parts that it sent nostalgic chills down my spine :P.
I might be wrong about this one, but at Tim 10 at frame 10 and 12, isn't that supposed to be a flute or something?

...Also, nice job on getting that weirdo sound effect in the beginning of Tim 5 XD.

I can't say anything about #21 and #22 as I never got that far XD.

Thanks for the compliment. I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about the timing in Lemming 1. That song's timing is pretty weird to begin with.

The Amiga version didn't use an unusual instrument for it. It used the same instrument sound as it does at the beginning of the song.

I'm actually not entirely happy with it... the way I wanted to do it was use an arpeggio with portamento, but FT doesn't allow that, so I had to fudge it...

I just listened to this (So I wasn't just guessing from memory): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOroSR4-fN4
And it sounds like it uses strings at that part.
I might be listening to the wrong version though x_x...

It sounds pretty good. Something I'd suggest is messing around with the channels some more besides using the instrument assigning command. I was never an incredibly big fan of 0% duty instruments for some reason. But that's just personal opinion.

I also love what you've done with TenLemmings.

I may or may not incorporate the Tim 10 suggestion. Thanks, in any case.

Well, there really are only so many things you can do to a channel... XD

Me neither. I only use it when I'm pretty sure it's the best choice. I tend to use 25% as my "default", and only switch over to one of the others if it'd be a marked improvement.

The song is based on the traditional Ten Green Bottles, so it seemed natural enough to use the rhythm from that... especially since it sounded a lot better! (I'm guessing this was a Brian Johnston track... I think Tim Wright was a much better composer than Brian Johnston.)

That's obvious, 0% duty means absolute silence.

Well, some people do like silence.

Oop. Guess I missed that too. I took it to mean 12.5% ('cause that's what you get with V00).

But then again, there's that noticeable click before and after the note is played...

EDIT: Or wait, would that be 100% duty that would do that? I'm not sure how the nes handles the square wave.

you can only do 0% duty or 100% duty with the FDS channel by making all 64 numbers identical, and yes, there are noticeable clicks if you change the waveform to a different level (e.g. from sixty-four 0s to sixty-four 63s)

I just meant theoretically, I noticed that the 2A03 square wave seems to only move the bar up instead of up and down.

I have to admit it's getting disappointing seeing a new post here, thinking "Ooh, somebody commented on my NSF!", and finding it's more talk about duty cycles that the 2A03 can't even produce. :P

What bar, the oscilloscope?

Yes, I'm sure he means the oscilloscope, since I noticed the same effect. Now can we please end this silly digression? :P
