The reason I'm posting an unfinished piece is because this one's rather long and will definitely take awhile to complete. I've gotten a good chunk of it composed but I'd say I'm only about 1/3 done. Criticism would be much appreciated on the parts that I do have finished however.

Damn! This is great! Love it!

Pokemon has some great music! Seriously, Pokemon made me what I am today. I've played the games countless of times! Pokemon was a huge part of my childhood! :D

All done! First post updated accordingly. (To be honest, the NSF sounds a lot nicer than the FTM since it really brings out the parts. Just thought that would be necessary to point out.)

Also, thanks for the criticism while it was a work in progress, guys. It was really appreciated (especially in the instances where you set aside your deep-seeded hatred and helped me out :P).

Well, any sort of feedback is appreciated regardless, and can be considered help in one way or another.

I've never heard that song before, but I like it a lot. I don't know how close to the original it is, or what kind of changes you made, but you did a good job. I'd like to hear some Triflake original tunes sometime, like next famicompo.

I've seen a few conversations about Famicompo before, but I'm not really sure what it's all about (google searches yield a small amount of results, all I can make of it is that you submit pieces and I guess they're part of a yearly collection...?). Would you mind explaining how it works? I'm relatively new to chiptuning, so I guess that would explain my ignorance, haha.

Also, glad you like the remix.

About the Famicompo, here's an example from 2003.

http://nesmusic.zophar.net/top_e.html

Famicompo is a Famicom/NES music competition, similar to the music Compos in the demoscene. Just like what you said; the pieces are graded according to votes & end up as part of a collection of songs.

I actually second what tadpole said; I'd also like to hear an original from you. Your skills are worth entering in a competition with. And why not?

I tried opening this song the ftm in famitracker 0.3.0 and it crashed. many other .ftm songs work. any idea why it crashed for me?

Edit: Nevermind. Ofcourse there's a beta 0.3.5 out!
Downloaded that one and now I can play it

fantastic song is all I can say.. Only nitpick I have is the beginning when it goes all silent. I feel there's something missing there. Oh and I haven't heard the original song so I can't really compare to that one.

In my opinion it makes it more complete. It like a lot of older games where it transitions from the ending theme to the more upbeat staff roll theme.

Oh, by the way, since a few of you haven't heard the original before, here it is in case you ever want to compare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVm_1kjlssU

It's quite a bit different. The intro is much more lengthy in my version, and most of the little "solo" blips in the original are replaced by my own little touches. Now that my remix is complete, it's kind of cool to compare.
