za909, no offense, but how did you get that out of the original Emerald Hill? No offense.
Finished Hill Top, S1 Special Stage, and Game Over.
EDIT: This would be Build 2.
If you had payed attention you would've realized that it was a pre-pre-pre alpha sketch and all I wanted was to give you my lead instrument. But seeing how 3 out of 4 covers are written in speed 1 I don't think I'm wanted around here anyway.
Anywho, I really like how close some of the covers are to the actual soundtrack. I guess having two different waveforms helps overcoming the 2-op limit.
It sounds closer if the lead uses Patch #2. With some volume and speed adjustments, it could be matched with that version in a pretty efficient way.
Thanks for the link.
I think it sounds pretty close with Patch 8, because of the chorus effect. Just my opinion, though.
Megamix used to be the bomb. Now it's just bombed.

If you had paid attention you would've realized that half the songs aren't speed 1. I personally compose in speed 1 because of its versatility, but others may or may not choose to do so. In fact, a few of my personal favorites (Chemical Plant, Scrap Brain, Sonic 2 Boss Beta, and both of the Aquatic Ruins) are at high speeds, Chemical Plant and Scrap Brain exceptionally so. As long as it sounds good, I'll include it.
If I remember correctly, in the original Sonic soundtrack, many of the instruments can be perfectly duplicated using two 2-op instruments, but seeing as there can only be one custom patch playing at a time... Well, the concept does help, doesn't it?

Some boss themes.
And some fixes to the existing songs to make is sound more accurate.
=O
I don't know what's more unbelievable, the sheer awesomeness, or the bad volume control? Seriously, the covers are all awesome, but way too loud.
Anyways, build 10 is out. Once again, the template for build 7 will work just fine (I reattached it for anyone who doesn't want to look for it again).
EDIT: NSF file out.

I think you did a rather odd decision in including a version of Marble Zone that's more similar to that of Megamix, instead of the original Sonic 1. You should've included the version I posted too and say that the other one was modified by you.
Also, song #13, frame 03, Pulse 1, instrument should be 00 instead of 0D. These mistakes can be seen quite easily with 0.4.3 beta 2 because it highlights wrong instruments.
I'm planning on taking S2 Special Stage. And by the way, I caught some inaccurate notes on your S1 Special Stage song, so I may fix those later. Listen to the original song and you'll see that frame 03 sounds really different because the notes are placed in wrong places and with the same timing as the previous notes.
So that's it for now. A huge weekend is coming so I'll have a lot of spare time to work on more songs!
[Actually, I should be working on my own projects right now, but this is really fun!]

Oh, wow. I must've overlooked it! xD
Proof that I go lazy too easily. :P

Because I was working on Marble Zone at the same time LOL. I'm finished by the way. Give it a listen!
Wait... are 0.4.3 files readable in 0.4.2? =O
Nice catch! If there are any more inaccuracies then let me know!
Now that's a way to spend your Easter break =D
[It is!]

I didn't notice either =V
Lazy? You're the person who's covered the most in this project! =P
EDIT: Forgot to post build 11. Template's still the same.

I still don't see the unmodified version of my Marble Zone. Having 3 sounds like excess, but I want it to be there~
You can include the modified version, of course, but please include the original one in the module too.
Also, you forgot to change an instrument in the modified Marble on frame 0A. FM channel 2 should've had instrument 02. And if you want to make it slightly more accurate, the Megamix version uses a different snare sample at the beginning!
I'm gonna do Starlight Zone now so you might see that one soon. I'll take S2 Special Stage too.

Also, good way to distinguish them (Marlboro Zone, Marble Zone and Marrblu Zuun). The first one is really clever.
EDIT: Hey, can we have some samples that don't tilt? The only thing I hate about those tilting samples is that they produce a bit more noise (mainly the kick, the others one don't really change that much).
Having samples that tilt and others that don't can be a good idea if the non-tilting samples don't have much background noise. In my case, it would help since I don't really need to use triangle that much.
Did you get the samples straight from the audio clips or not? If that's the case, I can work them myself and add them to the module for me and others to use. :D

The kick and timpani are from the original. The snare, clap, and toms are from Sonic Megamix.

Hey guys, I wanted to contribute at least one track to this project. I didn't see anyone mention they were going to do this track, so I tried it out. I think I got the notes down not too too bad, But it could need some instrument tweaking. I didn't wanna touch the ones used in your template, so I left them intact.
Thanks Fezuke, I added it to the main build.
[Even though I'm not supposed to do that]
I fixed two wrong notes in frame 07, row 9A, FM channels 3 and 4. There were two A# notes, which I changed to B. I'm pretty sure it's like this in the original song.
The reason I'm including a new build is because I also added Starlight Zone. I created a new patch for it so I did the importing work for you! :D
I increased the song speed in the 4 last frames to be able to do some patch switch wizardry.
About Fezuke's track, the VRC7 is really loud but I'm sure with some volume tweaks it can sound perfect. Nice job!
There are no samples added. I eventually did a non-tilting kick but it sounded awful, so I left the samples untouched.
EDIT: I have a high level of stupidity because I did something wrong in my song. It's fixed now.
EDIT2: By the way, Starlight has a noisy FM sound which is missing in my cover. I think it should be exactly on row 2C during the last 4 frames. Listen to the original song and you'll see what I mean.
If someone can recreate that sound using a custom patch, please add it to the song or post the instrument so I can add it myself.
EDIT3: Added Fezuke's modified Labyrinth Zone. Again, I spotted and fixed a wrong note (frame 05, row D2, FM channels 3 and 5, I changed the B notes into C# notes).
