You go to an instrument, create many waves inside of it and when you are in the pattern editor you insert a Vxx effect. This will change the wave that will play. Since you can define 16 waves in one instrument, you can use Vxx with xx going from 00 to 0F.
A wave macro works differently and I actually didn't know you could switch waves once the sequence stops. As I understood from these previous posts, you define a wave macro (0 1 2 3, for instance) and once it gets to the end (3) you can insert a Vxx and change the wave. I haven't tested this myself though.
EDIT: There's no need to halt notes in order to switch waves. You can do this while they are playing.

Okay...
Define the end on that. Is it "when sound stops" end or "when frame reached ending" end?

The end of a macro is when it gets to its last value (in that case is 3, but it could be anything). Also, you underlined my edit and I assume you didn't understand.
When you have many waves in an instrument, as I and others said, you can use Vxx effect to switch between them. What I meant is that you don't need to stop your notes to change the wave that's playing. Just place a Vxx effect wherever you want and you will change your wave. Try doing this in the tracker.
Are you sure? I can use Vxx as normal as other expansion and normal expansion? Because others told me about " The end of a macro is when it gets to its last value " and, when I tried the Vxx, it doesn't change...
Don't worry about that for now. Just stay away from the Vxx effect when you check the Wave box.

No hidden message there, I think. What was the point of that post?

Then there might be inconsistent behavior between versions. What I did once was that I used separate instruments for anything that needed a wave macro and defined a bunch of other waves in instruments used for general purpose, like doing leads or accompaniments (the particular module I'm talking about is my DemoCompo 7 entry and other works as well. I can give you direct links in private if you want to check them out).
Still, it all depends on the use you are going to give to your instruments. Sometimes, it might be just easier to make a lot of instruments and avoid the Vxx effect, but defining many waves into one instrument saves a lot of time and space.

DemoCompo 7 was a competition. The winners' songs are included with the program under "Demo songs".

DemoCompo is a series of contests hosted in this site. There have been seven installments so far and the demo songs included with the tracker were selected this way. You can try searching for those threads into the FamiTracker Talk subforum.
