Sounds a lot to me like a tense cut-scene or something. I think it'd be a good intro to a boss theme, but when I think 'boss music' and listen to it, I keep expecting it to open up into something a little less.... staccatoey? :P
It could use a little more flow, and a little less stop-and-go.... IMO.

Yeah, I agree that it's not QUITE intense enough to be a boss song. It probably needs a crazy lead as a hook, some dude jamming over the top of everything
