Well it's pretty much over for me. I have no idea if it was ok or not, but I'm definitely going to place around 40th place (in originals) just because I had the balls to shout out what my entry really was...well, it's been fun while it lasted.

you're probably overestimating how many people know/care about that sort of thing, lol
ft forums kids don't really make up much of the voterbase
Really looking forward to going through all of this Famicompo's entries properly when I get the chance - looking like a cracker after browsing over some of them.
Silly question really but I guess it's okay for entrants to vote on the other entries - not including your own though due to common courtesy I presume? Correct me if I'm wrong of course.
listening to that on crappy netbook speakers, it took some time before I noticed the addition. Thanks for the laugh guys.
robro: it's more like a complement to the original song in my eyes, so I wouldn't call it a cover either. It's just brilliant how well they fit together
I dunno. It's basically same progression but the melody is totally different. It's certainly not a cover.
But it's not entirely original either. How would you classify it then?
If you listen to the 4th N163 channel (the one that plays a triangle wave), you'll find it corresponds nearly exactly to the original overworld theme's triangle bass line.
I'm not trying to point fingers or anything; I'm just surprised it hasn't come up in any of the Famicompo 9 discussion groups so far.
Giant Steps was my cover entry, by the way. I don't want to post in the "Show Off Your Work" section since it doesn't actually use Famitracker, but there's an NES ROM and full source code for it, if anyone's interested. The code is almost entirely C, too, so if you're a programmer who's interested in NES programming but is daunted by assembly language, it might be a helpful example.
