@rainwarrior - Okay, now I'm confused. Which one makes the triangle channel make that click-ish sound that the H00 effect does on the Square channels?

Linear counter stops the triangle channel dead in its tracks after a set amount of time.

The linear counter is a counter that counts down at 240hz and when it hits zero it stops the triangle. i.e. you can make very short triangle beepies. (I don't think the phase reset clicks caused by H00 are comparable, but whatever.)

Length counter does the same thing for S/T/N but effectively at 60hz. (We don't need it.)

Anyhow, we should probably start a request thread specifically for this topic. Obviously this isn't related to the beta. Sorry for derail.

Topic split from the 0.3.8 beta thread.

The topic is really linear counter and envelopes and hardware sweeps (a.k.a. missing APU features).

Nobody wants length counters (I hope).

How does that even work? I'm assuming it exploits a glitch in the FamiTracker driver, but what does it do?

You can't hack an FTM to make an enevelope happen. The required registers simply aren't written to by FamiTracker at any stage.

I think the only candidate for being added here is the linear counter, since that one is actually audible. But it doesn't do much and I'm still not sure if it's worth the effort (not that it would take much to add it but I'd rather work on other things instead).
