I hope this applies to DC3 onwards, otherwise this means I'd need to totally recreate my entry from scratch and I'm not doing that. It's a bit unfair telling us this at the end of the compo, anyway!
Also aren't these demos going to bundled with the next version of Famitracker?

I've made a few changes to the rules, mostly to emphasise the importance of using 0.3.7 to write your entry, but also I've added that voting is compulsory for entrants. There's a few people who didn't vote last time, and while it was no big deal since there were enough non-entrant votes to compensate, I wouldn't want to be stuck with only a tiny portion of people bothering to vote a few installments from now. It's an inconvenience, but it's a necessary one for future contests.
Wasn't ensuring it was compatible in 0.3.7 already a requirement?
what will happen if one extremely new forum member uploads a troll entry to the comp just to downvote or upvote certain participants, will you remove the highest vote and the lowest vote of each entrant before calculating the score?

Nope, the rule has been there from the first day of the first compo, but nobody listened! Seeing your entry used fixed arps prompted me to emphasise it but I didn't "make it up" just now.

Fair point. However, the rule is there purely because I can't risk future FTMs becoming suddenly obsolete because they utilise stuff from a beta which the next version doesn't support. Right now it's not so much of an issue, but it could become one later, and I want to make sure entrants get used to composing using the stable release so that this never becomes an issue.
I guess since this installment doesn't use the N163 I could let it roll and tolerate 0.3.8 features but starting from DC3 I'm going to refuse entries which contain fixed arps or DPCM bankswitching (since DPCM is finally going to be allowed in DC3).
JSR himself once made the recommendation of never using the beta for making your tunes, and there's a reason for that. Beta FTMs not opening in later builds are not unheard of if you go back to when the FDS was added. Basically the instrument editor had been rewritten (or heavily modified in some way, I don't remember) which caused older FTMs to become broken, forcing you to copy and paste everything from an old version into a new version... That's the situation I want to avert basically.

Then I'd probably reject his entry because I'm the friggin' boss around here* and I can. Or I'd keep the entry but cancel his votes on the grounds that they're biased beyond doubt and not tell anyone.
*meaning in the compo not the forums.

also still no late entries allowed? I cry ;_;
I guess I could amend the rules with a clause for late entries.
Wait... So if pie's entry uses fixed arps and only works in 0.3.8, would we all not be able to easily tell which entry belongs to him once the pack is out?

Ehehehehheheheee!! Well, I tried something different, or so I think. I'm not a one-trick pony after all!!
It uses like, only two fixed portamentoes ever in the entire loop. I thought of you whilst specifically not using them <3
Also this anonymity has really gone down the shitter, wow.
