No, I don't think so. Sounds like a good idea though. I long for the day Famitracker will have NSF correct volume levels, and with a mixer, people can control the volume of each channel to their liking.
Terribly sorry about the second massive bump, but I finally recevied my Power Pak, and even though I can't play expansions yet, I thought I'd try out this NSF anyway.

Seems like the real 2A03 plays it fine! I couldn't hear any clicking whatsoever, and the NSF played flawlessly, sans expansion sound of course. Great news then isn't it? :D
I also tried other experimental stuff involving the DPCM such as changing sample loop points on the fly, bankswitched samples, even mixing raw PCM with DPCM samples, and it all works just fine!
At last, after weeks of waiting, you may finally enjoy a hardware recording of this! It is a FLAC file though, so it's like 6 MB for 1m20 of audio. Still worth it though. B)
I like the hardware recording; proof that it plays fine on real hardware (unlike the old DPCM triangle wave samples we had up here).
By the way, jrlepage, I think you can compress the FLAC audio even more without compromising the quality. Are you using the original FLAC encoder, or a third-party program?

Holy crap! There's practically no click at all! Looks like more than a few people ought to revise their DPCM emulation. I'm pretty sure I need one of those nifty devices like I need air. :P
Fezuke - I think that's part of my problem; there's too many places I could take this. Plus I've got like, 6 unfinished projects I've been picking at for the last two months. :D I do plan on coming back to it eventually, though.

The reason you don't notice it in jrlepage's recording is that it's buried in the mix. The same happens in FamiTracker though.
Getting rid of pops is sort of doable in emulation, but it's not really very easy. It's kind of an inherent problem with the algorithm. When I did my classical album I made a hack that more or less removed popping, but only in a very specific way; not something that could be generalized.
The winner? I'm not sure, but it's looking like FamiTracker to me.
Anyway, it gets buried in the mix in all of them, but it sounds to me like the real hardware doesn't need as much to do the job. The very beginning is the best example - where the other channels are the quietest; it's practically inaudible in the hardware version jrlepage posted, but you can hear it clear as day even in FamiTracker.
Edit - These aren't all EXACTLY the same volume. I only had so much patience to devote to this. :P I did try though.

Hmm... It sounds more like waveform beating than popping to me. But yes; I agree with the fact that this gets drowned out when other channels are played.
