I'd like to be able to export to MIDI without going through nsf2midi.

Also, though it's unusual for a tracker, I'd like a way to view a frame in standard musical notation.

I'd also like to see the standard notation view, too. MuseScore's an open-source notation editor & MIDI composition tool; it'd be perfect for creating a similar interface.

As for NSF2MIDI, aren't there ways of embedding the tool into FamiTracker (similar to a plug-in system)?

I'd like to request something new: Duplicate frames remover. Firstly, the user chooses a pattern. Secondly, FamiTracker checks all other patterns in that channel (yes, there are 0x7F of them). If the checked pattern is a duplicate, remove all contents of that pattern and then switch to the source pattern for that channel in that frame.

Useful for drastically lowering the file size in some cases, so that a smaller size can be remained even after using the 'change all' feature.

The file size can be drastically reduced anyway; my 22 KB cover is 6 KB in a zip. The .ftm filetype should incorporate some kind of compression.

That being said, it is relatively pointless here to use a compressed folder just to include one song.

You know, some people will see whether the file is big enough before downloading it.

On top of it, the size reduction request is important for those who want to create their own games using their own NSFs (since programmers are restricted in terms of how much ROM they can use for their code).

It would be nice to have something like a master volume level indicator. Each channel has one, and it would be nice to see how loud everything is when played together. A lot of other trackers have something like this too. You could maybe have an option to toggle it on and off to the right of the instrument window for example.

But how about the oscilloscope? The maximum peak of the overall waveform should be a good indication of how loud the entire tune is, but I feel that it should have added features (much like that of an actual oscilloscope, where you can actually take readings).

This request/suggestion might be a long shot and maybe something only I have a use for. It would be cool to be able to press play on two open famitrackers at the same time. I've been trying to make music with both vrc6 and FDS at the same time. It's really tedious when you want to listen to your composition on the go. You then have to save it as an NFS and convert it to mp3 and compile the two parts in Audacity... I might be the only one who have tried this and have a need for it but consider it at least!

I have a request, and a question. Did the VRC7 have only the fifteen patches that are given, or did it have more? Or did it have none and the patches are for ease of use? If it had more or none, could more possibly be added?

Also, please fix the VRC7 volume control!

xolroc: VRC7 has fifteen predefined patches that cannot be changed, those are stored inside the hardware. Dunno what you mean about the volume control? I think it was working in the beta, and if it didn't then it will work later.

Weirdbananas: I've made a small program that can start multiple famitrackers at the same time, it's attached to this post. It looks for open tracker windows and sends the play command when you run it.

The volume control works, but, for example, setting a volume of C gives you a volume that would be about 5 in any other chip.

That could be because of the use of the other VRC7 channels; if a waveform in channel one plays the same note as another in channel two, of the waveforms are somehow offset by 180 degrees, the resultant volume will be 0. If the two channels are in sync, you'll get an overall volume greater than that which you can set in FamiTracker (up to twice the default maximum).

You also need to consider that each patch in the VRC7 chip has its own volume controls as well; setting a global volume setting like you're doing will end up decreasing the patch's volume setting, depending on which patch you use.

That's how the chip works, the volume control is logarithmic and each step is 3dB.
