MED, back on the Amiga had a feature like this and I loved it. It would allow you to zap all the song data(notes/pattern order) without affecting the instruments.

I would use this a lot. I use it for "saving" a group of instruments.

Currently I do this already by using a template file, but I always seem to forget to "save as" and my template file gets full of notes.

Thanks for the consideration

I was so sure I'd seen this before but I can't find any mention of it in the list in the first post. Weird. Adding now.

Not sure if this has been mentioned (I assume it hasn't and the first post is up to date) -- I'd really love a "cleanup instruments" function, which would delete all unused instruments. during the course of making a song, i make a lot of instruments, but i find it's difficult to keep track of what instruments i have and haven't used, so to stop the instrument window becoming saturated with redundant instruments, it'd be cool to easily delete unused ones en-mass. MPT has a functionality like this, which is pretty handy.

the only other thing i can think of at the moment is FDS expansion support, though that's pretty low priority. i have a killer project to set about when the time comes!

thanks~

I recognize this request but it hasn't been added for some reason. Will be now.

I will mark with Stars(*****), from 5 to 1, 5 Stars is important in MY opinion and 1 for less important.

(***)
Copy a songs from a multy-tracks *.FTM to another multy-tracks *.FTM.
Maybe saving the song (or module) as a *.MFTM (or whatever format) and then you can import to the *.FTM you want.
Maybe the main problem will be...
- DPCM files
- Instruments (specially on expansion) and when your FTM have the limit of the instruments (which is actually hard to have a ftm like that, but im sure it will be a case)

A solution for this???
- On DPCM files, well you can add a pop-up msg if the FTM you wanna import have more than 16k on the instruments. Saying like... YOUR A N00B, HOW YOU GOONA IMPORT MORE THAN 16K... N00B!, or another msg can help! XD...
- On instruments, well the same, or just say you excede the limit of the instrument (in case this happen)
===========================================================================================
(**)
- An mml export/import?, i know this is kinda useless for most of the ppl, but im thinking to include mml ppl can handle the info on Famitracker :D.
===========================================================================================
(****)
- Dpcm editor, it will help to made waves as synth. Or bass, saw waves or whatever kind of short synth loopwave
===========================================================================================
(***)
- Plz... made the instrument windows able to Ajustable/Resize or more bigger. Because when you have long DPCM names sometimes is a mess up. Especially on the Assigned samples and Loaded samples part.
===========================================================================================
(**)
- Multy-Duplicated current frames, by pressing shift or whatever key, or just select the frames you wanna duplicate, like with the mouse on the ROWS and the duplicate the lines you had selected using the same duplicate current frame option
===========================================================================================
(*)
- Made the WAVE export volume ajustable, to made them LOUD or QUIET, actually the volume is really quiet. Maybe a new feature, export wave per each channel (this is for gain more quality if you wanna mix them into an AUDIO EDITOR and made them sound even more heavy and with more quality.
Example: ( ) = CHECKMARK / (o) = channel selected
( )SQUARE 1 / ( )SQUARE 2 / ( )TRIANGLE / (o)NOISE / ( )DPCM

I'm requesting a request list. It would make things easier for jsr....

AMAZING!!!... and i think this will made things easier to JSR :DDDD really really nice idea and thx for this mister :DDDD... i didnt saw it till today

Dont knwo if you noticed than i just "edited" my post and add some kind of "importance" stars to each request i made. Obviosly this is just my opinion, but i think this will made easy too, to "choose" what request do first in order of importance and usefull... And i think maybe ppl can post JUST 1 time, and you can add to the list the person who do the request, and then if they wanna post again, just have to edit his post, instead of add a newone. What's your opinion about this???...

example
Dafydd
- text here, and there, this include link to the post
- same here same here
- ends here... (the 3 importants request of this person, or maybe just 1)
etc... and jsr just have to click the one is important or he think is important and read it )))... your list already improve a lot the way and i think this will made things even more easier...

Is there an option to register and unregister file association for FTM files in this software (besides using the open always with Windows feature thingy)?
If not, it would be a nice feature.

Whenever I load FTMs directly from explorer or a command line, or when I even download them here, FamiTracker opens. Don't know if FamiTracker was set up that way, or if I set up Windows Explorer to work that way. If FamiTracker doesn't support file associations, then you should be able to manually configure it when you load an FTM. Just tell windows which program to load, and it will work just fine.

I'll put up a request to have FamiTracker include an option to associate itself with .ftm files and not. Though, tssr, if FamiTracker opens every time you try to download a .ftm file, it sounds like there's a problem with your browser settings.

Then I'd have to reread everyone's post in the entire thread every so often to check if anything's been changed. I don't see how that's going to work. Unless you mean the first post should ONLY contain a list of people requesting stuff instead of a list of actual requests, which makes no sense to me. The current way, jsr can just look at the first post and know at once what needs doing, clicking on the individual requests if he needs more info. Your way, he'll need to click on a username before even finding out what anyone wants, and chances are he'll forget clicking on some usernames, meaning their requests will never even be considered.

If you want, I can put some kind of symbol after the name of the request in the request list to indicate the request is of low importance to the requester, but in the end, it's all up jsr to decide which feature to implement first. My guess is he just picks whatever sounds easiest first (if he ever comes here), unless something strikes him as very useful.

i was meaning something like this
http://famitracker.shoodot.net/forum/posts.php?page=1&id=460

it's the same way you made it, i just add it name, and post. Then if ppl add new feature, you just have to add the link or update the info. Maybe like you said, a symbol in order of importance (like i did on some of my post with ( *(stars) ) that maybe help to identify what "we" think is important and was not. Specially on the request part, some of them (like 2-3 mines) are not really important.

I see. But how do you keep track of changes in people's posts? PMs? I'd rather keep it the way it is, but thanks for the suggestion. And in the future, I'd prefer if you make a new post if there's something else you'd like to request, rather than editing your old ones.

just a quick request, and you can probably file this under the "auto echo" effect.

neil baldwin has offered up the code for this amazing echo effect to jsr, which can be heard and read about via this thread:

http://8bitcollective.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=16899

so jsr, if you didnt already know, now you do! make it happen!

If JSR fixed mix-pasting in patterns, then this same effect can be achieved relatively easily. This effect however has been in other music systems in the past for Game Boy Advance (Musyx by Factor 5 used it as well)

All you have to do is take this:

C-3 vA
...
D-3 vA
...
E-3 vA
...
F-3 vA
...

and do this:

C-3 vA
...
D-3 vA
C-3 v3
E-3 vA
D-3 v3
F-3 vA
E-3 v3

etc.

But again having the function in the actual instrumentation is convenient. I personally would rather JSR fix all the bugs listed in the past than adding more features.

paste mix is fixed in the most recent beta, however there is a work-around you can use for the time being - you can copy the notes to a spare channel (3 rows after of course), highlight them all, hold shift and drag them to the first channel.

god, what a headfuck. that's insane and brilliant. i have to admit, i would love to see some means for doing this. doing it manually would be nigh-impossible.
