I'm for it too. I dunno why it shouldn't be implemented the same way it is in other trackers such as ModPlug Tracker. Such an envelope would look something like this:
8 12 | 15 | 12 8 6 4 2 0
(i.e, fade into 15, stay there, then fade out on note-off)
And you'd just have separate note-off and note-cut commands, which in ModPlug Tracker look like == and ^^, respectively, in the note column.

Ok, this sounds useful enough. I'm adding these requests...
I guess so. I never thought it necessary to have more presets - their purpose seems to be more of a learning and testing thing than something you'd actually use much once you learn how to make your own instruments. I know they were a great help for me to understand how the macros worked, but I don't really use them anymore. At all. But if you want to request it anyway, I'll put it on the list.
I think it'd be pretty cool if the little box next to each instrument that says "2A03" would say "2A07" instead when you're in PAL mode. Or am I just being stupid? If anyone agrees it'd be cool, I'll put it on the list...
I'm pretty sure it does. The main difference you'll run into with PAL is how envelopes work. In NTSC mode, each number in the envelope takes 16ms; in PAL mode, each takes 20 ms. So the envelope 5 4 3 2 1 0 is a fade-out over 80 ms (not counting the 0) in NTSC and 100 ms in PAL.
I've always had problems using the instrument editor's envelope editor. Whenever I click on either the minus or plus buttons, I add or delete more steps than I really want to, and the reason is that if you hold the mouse button and move the mouse around a little while still holding, you will add/remove one step for every pixel you move the mouse. Personally,I have a very hard time clicking somewhere and keep the mouse completely still at the same time. I think that you should have to click for every step you want to add. The "slider" area between the plus and minus buttons could stay the way it is (i.e. you can hold and drag the level around), since it's also pretty hard to click at exactly the right spot for the same reasons as mentioned above.
Also, for those of you who wonder, the reason why I'm not linking the new requests is because I'm waiting for the posts not related to the channel volume discussion to be moved back from the other thread. Moving them back will screw up any links to specific posts, so I'll wait until that's done.
The only change that happens when switched to PAL is the speed on the instruments and arpeggios will go a little slower. The song itself will remain it's speed and pitch as the NTSC. So it's not that much different.
Btw, I have a request involving PAL.
As I mostly prefer PAL music than NTSC music (with some exceptions from Shadowgate and Dragon Warrior for instance) and therefore I mostly play European games and makes PAL-only NSFs, I often have some tend to mimic some musics from the European versions (not only the PAL exclusives), but problem is that some EUR games like Metroid, Beauty & the Beast, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and NES Open Tournament Golf have certain pitches which aren't available to add using only the keyboard (I think people with a PAL console understands what I mean).
Sure, I can use the Pxx effect to get these type of pitches (which I did on some of my covers), but it's not accurate because that will fuck up the arpeggio instruments and very high tones.
If it's possible to implement a feature that can do this pitch change without any problems with arpeggios and very high tones, than I would like to request that.
And I also noticed that in Nestopia, most external sound-chips (excluding VRC7) changes in PAL mode too.
Edit: It seems that my internet connection does not co-operate with me, causing me to triple-post.
Edit2: I added music examples of some PAL music, but you need to download all three files in order to extract them.
It's already up there. Maybe I should rewrite it though. Anyway, I think it should be pretty easy to implement if only you chose your expansion chip(s) by checking its box in a list instead of choosing from a dropdown menu as it is now.
that's what i was thinking - checkboxes rather than a dropdown list. then the fun can begin. CHECK EVERYTHING RAAAAAAHH *wank song*. but, that is for when there is stuff to be checked :D
one thing i'm wondering is, how will the frame editor deal with having many expansion chips enabled? right now if you enable VRC6 or 7 the frame editor has the other channels added, but the frame window stays the same size. scrolling could get a bit confusing even with three extra channels, let alone uh... 28 perhaps the window could be resizable so the horizontal scrollbar isn't required? also would be cool to have the chip icons above the pattern numbers (so 5x 2a03 icons by default). that'd help cut down on confusion when many channels are enabled, i think. but i'm getting ahead of things anyway... all very hypothetical at this point.
oh and i have a couple of smallish requests that'd be very helpful:
- could multiple instruments be highlighted simultaneously (for quick deleting)? select - delete - select - delete etc. is a bit tedious.
- could paste mix be enabled by default, or could an option for it to be enabled by default be added? there's never a time i don't need it turned on
I don't really get that last thing, but I'll add the rest.
I want the frame editor to be resizable too, maybe even detachable. Chip icons would be nice, but even better with channel icons, like a little square over the two square ones, a little triangle, a square with a 6 in it for the vrc6 ones etc. Otherwise, I guess you could make the frame editor show only channels from one chip at a time, that is, is has something like a tab for every expansion chip. Right now, the frame editor is obviously not designed with expansion chips in mind. I'm sure jsr will figure something out. I think this is big enough of an issue to warrant its own thread, though. Something does need to be done about the frame editor.
I have another request regarding the instruments - it would be nice if you could move them around in the list. Sometimes you make instruments in a very illogical order, and it would be nice if you could swap their position in the list, like you now can with the songs within an ftm. Of course, when this is done, the pattern data must be updated automatically so that the channels don't start using the wrong instrument (i.e., if you swap instruments 1 and 2, if somewhere in the song you have e.g. "C#4 01" this should be changed for "C#4 02" and vice versa).
