Hey guys. I am quite frankly disappointed at my school's staff. I was "caught" tracking in the school's media center, and after a few minutes, a couple of school admins stopped by, and accused me of hacking the network, EVEN THOUGH THEY HEARD SOUND, I told them it was an NES TRACKER, and then threatened me with "unknown consequences" (in an "or else" kind of way), and that really pissed me off. they also rushed me out so quickly that I forgot my flash drive in there, so now they're probably going to search it or something.
Anyway, I can KIND OF see where the confusion came from, plus the fact that there's testing in a week, so I don't entirely blame them, I just don't get why they didn't let me fully explain my intentions

Are you sure that they accused you for using the tracker?. Maybe they detected some malware installed on the PC that you were using.
AKA: I can't get into my mind why some "school admins" could think that Famitracker could be dangerous. If this is true, they cannot be admins of all that relates to a computer.
it's because of dumb hacking movies. you see crazy interface with weird symbols and numbers and letters on the screen scrolling by, and you're an idiot, so you think "HACKING LOL!"
Go to them and kindly ask if they'd let you explain yourself I guess. Explain to them about the NES and all that, then show them the tracker somehow? Idk, teachers are dumb. They really have no reason not to believe you if you explain it, then have the proof, they just have to stop being such shitbags and let you show them.
EDIT: whats also funny was when i was using the computer, my mouse suddenly jolts around and my webpage just scrolls up sometimes, so that means they were spying on me like i commited a crime.....
MORE EDITING: right as i posted this comment IaTM just posted the same thing, his is a more accurate way of saying what went on, still disregard what the link says above and click on it for a funny internet meme
During lunch I came back to the media center, and the Network administrator told me some news:
1. Seeing as I left my flash drive, they sent it to the Broward County School board, AND they searched it for malicious content (the most malicious thing on there is HyperCam), but I got it back unchanged (nothing added or deleted). After that:
2. The board members "thoroughly" researched and looked through the program. Their "findings" follow.
a. FamiTracker can miraculously search the internet in search of (possibly illegal) music downloads. (The "tracker" in FamiTracker apparently means "scans something completely unrelated to it, and yes she said 'scans'" )
b. FT somehow can hack into servers and act as a proxy.
c. Its method of playing the music is "scanning those symbols as they pass that blue line in the middle" (she said nothing about them reading the help files or readme for information from the developer himself)
3. If I'm caught using it again on THEIR computers, consequences will be given, but if I bring in a laptop, I can use it on that as it's not connected to their network.
4. If they see this, I don't care, and in all seriousness, I hope they do so they can see how stupid of a decision they made.

Can you hear me laughing? I'm laughing hard right now.
Dude, tell them to let you track a song. Let them hear how the square waves sound, then go to Youtube or something and let them hear a real song from an actual NES game and at that moment, they will find everything they said against you and claimed to have found in the software will blow their mind and they will realize just how wrong they were. Don't take that garbage, clear your good name!
