Your idea is great for a "FakeChipTracker", or "SuperModedAndHackedNESTracker". Not for Famitracker.

except multi-expansion NSFs ARE IMPOSSIBLE, but anyway, thank you cak, for your support

Multi Expansion NSF ARE POSSIBLE!. But you can't change the support in a Dynamic way in the middle of the track!.

However, you can, on the 007B offset of a NSF file, put an 1 on VRCVI, an 1 on VRCVII, an 1 on FDS, an 1 on MMC5, an 1 on N106 and an 1 on FME7 and then you can obtain a "FULL MULTI EXPANSION NSF".
On the other side, Famitracker can handle in a static way all of those soundchips or "simulate" a dynamic way to activate/deactivate soundchips like in you example.
But keep in mind that the NSF would be a multi nsf without dynamic switching, and the result cannot be executed on a real NES/Famicom.

thanks FTBN. it was weird and time consuming to make it, only to have its topic run over by a semi truck

EDIT: oh wow you actually looked at the image.

I don't like this "other tracker" philosophy.

Putting square waves into Renoise is not the same thing. Famitracker is based on synthesis, and contains quirks which would take an ungodly amount of research to mimic correctly in a sample-based tracker. (For instance, channels affecting the volume of other channels.)

If you don't like multi-expansion nsfs, don't make them. Simple.

This is exactly what I would have said. Even if you have no intention of making NES Music, you might want to use sounds from it, and you can come up with neat sounds using FT that would be a pain or incredibly difficult to do with other software.

Why?. The 2A03 is not an advanced sounchip, you can emulate the sound using samples very well. That's how I was doing the sound after stop using MML.

I have a setup for Renoise 2.5.1, and sounds great. The samples were taken from a NES system output.
Check it out.

Of course, after those test, I discovered Famitracker.

I guess this will be yet another debate, but...

Im_a_Track_Man; you didn't really troll yourself & I wouldn't boot for for this idea. It's actually a pretty novel idea when you think about it; since you (& many other members) treat FamiTracker the same way as any ordinary sequencer, being able to switch between expansions would be practical because you can then adjust your instrumental limits.

But besides NES compilation breaking up (which isn't important for your needs,) there's also another problem; instruments. You won't be able to continuously use the same instrument across every different expansion chip; you'll have to constantly switch between instruments for each expansion.

This said, it would be much simpler to implement multiple expansions per project.

It SEEMS as though people are taking this too seriously. this started out as a simple idea and it blew up into this whole thing. why can't people just accept it with a simple "Oh, that seems plausible." or "No, this would be too difficult for someone to set up" instead of looking too far into into it, and thinking about the wrong aspects.

Tech, you brought up something I didn't think about before, that the instruments wouldn't be compatible with the other chips (Which was common sense really, I don't know how that went over my head.)

That's not a problem, I think. In the same way in wich the pattern change it forms/channels. The instrument list can change the values/icons when you're in a certain pattern. The instrument list can be dynamic, too.

No. Hush now. I don't care how much you hate expansion chips, but don't go forcing your views on everyone else, that's nicetas_c territory and I will not tolerate this.
