I think I'll just make one thread for all the ftm's I'll ever make.

Finished my first one. Any constructive criticisms?

No, not really. :P

It definetely sounds good as a chiptune. I can't say I like the style of the song myself, but that's just my taste - there's nothing wrong with the music.

Having just read the f'ing manual, I'm a bit scared of using DPCM, I feel like I should be doing something with the Zxx effect.

How're these kicks?

I'll add later a DPCM sample with both kick and clap, I just don't have the original clap sample to incorporate 'em with me atm.

What you may need to do is use Z80 in the DPCM for your kick drum & use an alternating Z80 & Z7F for your clap, providing that you find a suitable sample for it.

Using alternating Z80 & Z7F (or Z00 & ZFF) will produce a click when the DPCM sample is played (which can be useful if you're using a snare drum sample, too).

I don't think I did it right, my triangle is acting funnily :\
Especially around Frame 0B. Though the DPCM drums do seem to have decent volumes.

Compare to a version without using Zxx.

You didn't really do it right; use Z80 & Z7F on alternating DPCM notes to create a pop at each sample's beat. This said, it will play around with your triangle. I know that nicetas_c & others have used different methods to create pops on their notes, but I don't remember what effects they used (I think it was a hardware sweeping effect).

As long as there are pops it doesn't matter how you do it.

I just don't know what those Z7Fs mean, note cut?

I know; it's not exactly how Xyz_39808 should have used the Zxx effect.

Trying out not defining instruments (except that drum). Don't wanna clutter things with a second fx channel for Vxx, so I only defined those.

Bored

Not the current one I actually am working on, just, dunno, to tide me over while writer's block keeps me from finishing #3.

Not planning on taking this any further, I mean, it is in 4/4, not a very interesting meter.

I like these. You've come up with some interesting textures.

Ever consider pulling out the VRC6 and putting a lead+bass against these?

Affection is a finished tune. (would still like other constructive criticism on this one)

As for VRC6, I'm staying away from expansions for the moment. You're free to do whatever with that one though. I was only really trying the bottom example of the Axy wiki. I'm not even gonna name it.

Aforementioned actual WIP

I do wanna somehow end it on em (III in CM), but I can't figure out how to get there. I failed at a good deceptive V-VI progression between frame 11 and 12, can't seem to make it work.

[edit:]
I think that E-2 in the tri is the resonant frequency in my headphones hahaha
Loud that is
