I'm glad it helped, JeffC. I noticed it because you were using note cuts with volume control to do some kind of a short beat; the only thing that stop the noise from spattering on top of sustained notes was the fact that the speed & tempo was too slow with respect to the spacing between notes. So, the next best thing would be to use an effect to achieve a rapid volume fade.
And to give you a heads-up about this forum; whenever it has difficulty loading something after you make a post, don't click on the Send button again because it will send the post again. Instead, you'll have to wait until the page craps out & then refresh. If only this forum were updated.
nicetas_c; even though it's not accurate, it's still top-notch music. I guess you might as well call it a remix instead of a cover & be proud of your high quality work anyways.

Sorry, JeffC, if ya feel inadequate by everyone's postings.
As another new user to famitracker I find it duanting looking at current uploads of ftms (everyone friggin' takes off using VRC6).
I thought it'd be more inspiring for the both of us if we see others' less developed tracking techniques, or, at least their earliest ones.
I know I found that NoobAges folder useful for learning (especially the metroid covers). I hope some other ftms here also helped you.
Promising certainly is promising. I like the progression thingymabob there.

I'm surprised at how fast you've actually picked up the basic commands (& this is coming from a guy who still hasn't picked up hardware sweeps the arpeggio effect).

Alright now; you know how to achieve the basic (& intermediate) effects. But how well do you know your Do-Re-Mis?
That last clip you posted is a good (but very short) example of how to organize your notes in a smooth-flowing way because the notes of each channel complement each other.
As long as you can play notes that can complement each other in a decent manner, then you know how to compose basic music. Combine it with your knowledge of effects & you know how to create true music.
