Yeah, this was one of my favorites, too. Actually, that was one of my favorite Sonic games, but not too many people like it. It's not like it was trying to be a Sonic 4(like Sonic 4 tried to be Sonic 4... and failed, IMO), just its own rendition of Flicky.
On topic, though, is this more of a remix than a cover? I ask this because it sounds a bit different from the original, and the drum beat is different, too. Overall, It's a fresh take on the song. Always glad to hear a Sonic tune.
