Makes remember me the intro of Zombie Nation. Also made entirely with DPCM.

That's pretty good. However, I'm still struggling to make decent DMC files that plays C# in different octaves, as triangle waveforms. If anyone has a tutorial of some sort that I can use to create my own DMC file that actually sounds proper, drop me a line!

Well.... it's amazing what you can manipulate the limits of DPCM to do for you. I also made something demonstrating such limitation exploiting, but I'm using it in a community project at POM.net, no peekies.

EDIT: Made a very realistic noise guitar *tribute to POM.net, to where I have been banned for a week* and did a simple tune, added DPCM. Notice how when the Snare hits, the guitar is quieter. Makes for a nice echo effect, if you can find anything louder that you wouldn't notice or would tie in with the song. Though, it is used for echo here.

(Rolls eyes) POM.net isn't even a valid website. :P

Basically, you thought you were banned when the website's domain name expired.

Rushjet1 made one.

cool, you make some melody from a noise channel!

Yeah; he only made one for octave 3. The sample's audio will start crackling if you try to use it for higher octaves.

What I'd like to know is what offsets would I need to manipulate when editing the DMC file in a Hex editor.

All these 4 samples screw up in NSF players when looped.

good luck making a 17 bytes long triangle sample

Something like that.

Also, only the C# is made by Rushjet1, the others are actually from Kurobit, if I am not wrong.

Sorry about that; Kurobit made the 3 C natural samples, while Rushjet1 made only 1 C# sample.

As for the looping problem, I've noticed it when I made that transcription of the Father Ted opening theme; when the samples are looped, they eventually mute themselves out. That's why they shouldn't be used for sustained notes (what I had to do to sustain the notes was to replay the same note a second time, right at the point the first note dies down).

I've also noticed that something in the DPCM channel also mutes out the sample (but I don't know exactly what's triggering it).

Like this one?

It is possible that the delta counter goes all the way to 7E~7F but does not make its way back, so the counter sticks around 7A~7E.

Looped PCM samples screw up in NSF players if mod(size,16)=1.

Yes; you just hammered the nail there, nicetas_c. I just tried it out; one note in one NSF for a continuous loop. Indeed, it not only failed in the NSF player, but the loop also failed in FamiTracker.

Anyways, I was actually looking for some higher-octave C# samples to go along with the C natural samples that Kurobit created.

The octave 3 C natural sample that Kurobit made goes well with the octave 3 C# sample from Rushjet1, but sadly, there are no octave 4 or octave 5 versions of C# around. If anyone's willing to create some (or to at leach point me to the right direction about creating them properly,) please drop me a line.
