Bomono = Terrible, annoying and childish shitposter.
At least he keeps it in the "Post your instruments here" and "Post your random doodles and short loops here" threads instead of infecting the rest of the forum.
don't shitpost your terrible ftm in places it doesn't belong. keep it to the random doodles thread, since this has nothing to do with instruments. of course, you could just steal everyone else's FTMs and show those off since you seem to be really good at doing that, it would definitely be better than this one.
these kids are driving me crazy...
If this forum ever gets software that supports it, people who post useless crap should get some sort of title or something that warns people of their immaturity and tendency to shitpost (e.g. a pink name). After the first warning, their profile picture gets changed as well, and then after that a ban/probation.
I've seen it work on other forums and I think it would work great here as well.
The problem is that he hasn't broken any established forum rule, so there really isn't much I can do (after all, I'm not the one who has the ability to ban members, only jsr can do that). I fully agree that posting random tunes in the "instrument thread" demonstrates a complete lack of common sense; but "common sense" isn't a forum rule, it's just that: something everyone should have and make use of, but you can't sanction anyone for not having any, really.
I suppose I could delete posts like that one (or take their attachements away) but that'd be plain censorship. I could warn the user not to do it again, but without the ability to carry out my ban threats, it doesn't have much weight (it would if jsr was more active, but it isn't the case - 3 days between me asking for someone to be banned and the ban being carried out isn't very serious). Locking the entire thread doesn't make any sense because this is an open thread. So I'm left with bugger all to do in situations like this, other than sit and watch Dan tell everyone he dislikes off.
I keep asking for more moderating powers, but the forum software doesn't support it unless I become an admin or something (which would give me far too much unwanted privileges). So unless there's blatant disregard for the rules or a flamewar is started, there's only so much I can do...
If you don't like an instrument, don't use it.
If you don't like a song, don't listen to it.
If you don't like a user, ignore them.
Not only do you guys waste everyone's time (including your own) with these "wow, what a shitpost" comments, but you also win a few non-listeners in the process. Grow up.
I've seen the amount of these kinds of users get larger and larger over time, so your solution is just to ignore them?
That kind of mentality is the kind that kills any kind of forum environment. Saying "oh, we'll just ignore them. Everything will be okay" will not help anyone. If this place eventually gets overrun with people like bomono and ganondork (I'm not saying it will, but it's entirely possible) then it'll be pretty hard to ignore them and have a decent, mature conversation or comment on someone's hard-worked on music.
That's just my opinion, but I think you're telling the wrong people to grow up here.
