Of course I do! But I try not to overcomplicate things with too many instruments.
It's like... if I try to make fancy instruments, they always sound bad, but if someone else does the exact same thing, they sound awesome.

Don't be so hard on yourself!
Practice,Practice,Practice!
The key is to make tons of god-awful insturments until you get it right!
Like, did you know if you do a " | 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 " in the duty it sounds kinda vibrato-ish?
I only know that because I experiment a whole lot!
I'm still absolutely horrible with n163!
But I'm gettin' better ya-see?
I'm not a very good motivational speaker...

I noticed that the PWM leads you put in the song actually sounds like they have vibrato. Also, the less the duty, the lower the volume will be.
It can take a bit to figure that out, but it's kinda awesome how different settings affect each other.
And I've made a lot of awful instruments before, but now I know what's right and what's wrong when making them (sort of).
The N163 is hard to use, I have volume problems with it so that's why I use VRC6 for my stuff, but the namco chip is awesome too!
So yeah, practice makes you better, of course!

You're not really forced to make instruments. Most good music makers just use pre-made instruments witha little twist of their own. Better to focus on the music .

Yeah, that's right too. I loaded a few pre-made instruments in the module, I took them from another project I was working on.
You can notice a lot of abuse on the volume column in each channel, especially the sawtooth!
It ultimately depends on your own style of making music .

Yes I have! I wanted to improve upon this since many of my older covers have bad sound designs (well, that's what I think :D).
Thanks!
[I've covered Sand Canyon around 4 times, actually, but only 3 of those have been released]
