It's been many moons since I've posted something here but I'm back in the 8-bit saddle (at least until I find a new job) so here's something new.

Like all my stuff it doesn't sound at all like VGM but whatever. I was going for a spacey, floaty, twinkly kind of sound inspired by some bass music artists like Starkey. So of course it's best experienced with headphones or speakers that can reproduce bass.

I know, it's not very long, but I'm a perfectionist and I'm rusty so what might take some of the masters in here a few hours takes me a week.

As always feedback/constructive criticism is most welcome.

Enjoy!

Here's a soundclound link as well: [url=https://soundcloud.com/r0br0/laser-shower]https://soundcloud.com/r0br0/laser-shower

This sounds like video game music, what're you talking about? Sounds very PS2/Dreamcast.

I like the coupling of the lead instrument, the sound created definitely complements the cold-ish sound of the rest of the song.

I'd disagree with the titling of this song, though, it sounds more like an adventure through an icy valley in a JRPG.

Probably should have been more specific. I mean it doesn't sound like VGM from the NES era. I like your PS2/Dreamcast comparison.

The title...ya it could be better. I hit ctrl+s compulsively like all the time so I tend to just name it the first thing I think of and it's usually dumb. They could be ice lasers though... maybe that's a thing...

Thanks for listening!

this sounds nice, good effects and sounds. it does sound kind of like an icy valley JRPG song.

It reminds me of what my friend plays on the radio. Very stoner-y in a good way (he's not a stoner, though he does have a leather jacket, a goatee, white-man's-afro).

@Rushjet: thanks! kind words from someone as talented and prolific as yourself are quite nice to hear.

@L77: haha, I am a stoner (but have none of those things, strangely) so thanks.

@Vectorman: That's what I was going for, thanks! Samples are from Tecmo Bowl and Track and Field.

@L77: Have you seen a ginger with an afro? The word "clownish" comes to mind.

What if I told you I was a ginger without an afro, but somewhat long hair?

I, personally, HAVE seen a ginger with an afro. A rather inglorious sight.

Also, ice lasers could refer to lasers that are concentrated by ice instead of glass. Even though that would be horribly inefficient.

Son, I promise that you have never seen a mane as glorious as his. Possibly, it's the tallness, the goatee, and the aviator glasses that save him, but trust me, he is quite a sight.

99% obnoxious, 300% douchey.
Now beehives, that's where it's at.

Why didn't I notice this before? This is really good! I love what you did with the Triangle, very creative.
