(Note: Sorry for bad English)

Hey guys, I'm a new member.

This is the first time after making my own VRC6 cover, the song called 'Happy H. Christmas'.

I hope you liked it and be opinion!

UPDATE: Minor edits and added Pxx effects in 2A03/VRC6 pulse 1 instead of pitch some instruments.

Hi dude, welcome to the forums!

The song sounds really great, though I found a minor problem: Some notes clash, let me explain:

When you put the same note twice in different channels and at the same time, the sound of those notes will get muffled and will not sound so good. To avoid this, you can make a trick with the Pxx effect.

In frame 04, Pulse 1 of both the 2A03 part and the VRC6 part share a note in two different octaves. This is okay, but it still generates clashing. You can put a P81 or P7F effect on any of these two channels (not both, beware) and the clashing will most likely be gone, but the problem is that it would sound slightly detuned, so be wise when using it.

That's it, the song is great despite this small problem. You did a nice work!

Salaam, GrandChaos9000.

I like how you did the song; interesting cover. If this is your first song, it's really good. Practice makes perfect & you'll learn all the tricks about FamiTracker to improve your minor problems that Dr_Mustache mentioned.

I've already fixed for few minor edits and added pitch effects in 2A03/VRC6 pulse channel 1. Thanks for helping, Dr_Mustache.

You're welcome. Anytime you need help with the program you can ask here in the forums. Plenty of people can help you with different stuff and you can also learn from others' work. Also, there's a Wiki which you can check to learn some interesting stuff.

I noticed the Pxx effects but there's still clashing. I'll teach you something:

In the first four frames (from frame 00 to frame 03) you made the 2A03 Pulse 1 channel echo the VRC6 Pulse 1. This was nice, but when you make a channel echo another one, there's a high chance that the same notes still play at the same time, thus producing the note clashing. So, for a really effective echo effect, do this:

Have one channel do the main melody at the volume you wish (in this case, VRC6 Pulse 1), then copy and paste everything in that channel to a different one. In the pasted channel, make the notes play at a lower volume (at least half than the original, so if the lead channel plays at volume 9 you put the other at 4 or 3). You did this perfectly in your song, now add this slight detail and it'll be great:

The main channel (the one that does the lead at full volume) plays normally. In the echo channel, put a P7F or P81 effect, this makes the echo note NOT to be exactly the same, because it's slightly detuned. This eliminates clashing and makes a nice echo effect!

I attached a modified version of your FTM, all I did was inverting the Pxx sequences in the 2A03 Pulse 1 channel, so it doesn't play the exact same notes as the VRC6. See how this creates a nice echo effect.

Take a look at these two wiki pages to read about echo and chorusing (the same as the Pxx trick I explained before):
