I found an old XP computer in my basement and decided to work on it. I actually got it to work (obviously; I'm posting a work!) and to celebrate, I went back to good ol' Famitracker and made a little theme I've been meaning to cover for a LONG time now.

Originally, I was going off of the Game Boy Color game Metal Gear Solid (yeah, MGS is on GBC, but it's not what you'd think), but then I went over to the MSX for one last play and...wow. I was only 55 seconds in a much longer piece of work. This made me want to finish it more since I absolutely love this song.

I have to say, I'm quite pleased how this turned out. The song itself shifts halfway or so from a song you'd expect in stealth to a heroic kind of tune with that little bit of stealth feel in there (that was the goal, at least).

Well, I kept you waiting long enough, so...enjoy. ^_^

This is fantastic, PaulMannIV! There were only two minor things that felt weird to me:

*The chords in the first part of the tune shoud be three-note chords, as they are in the original MSX version.
*One wrong note in the first part of the tune.

I added a third note to the chords and corrected the wrong note in an FTM I attached. (Please don't kill me for this)

Other than those to issues, this is really great!
Looking forward to hearing more stuff from you!
The song is called "Theme of Tara" as Hideo Kojima interpreted the beat of the song as "ta-rah."
That's all the information I can find.

I'm not gonna kill you, but I am going to tell you why I decided against your points in the beginning.

For starters, as I've mentioned before, I was going off of the GBC color version (even made it sound a little like it) for the beginning. I felt as if two notes and echoes were more effective than a possibly odd sounding third. The third you put in, though, does add a bit that I didn't put in.

As for the, quote "wrong note", even if I would be going directly by the MSX the entire time, that note...didn't sound right to me. It WAS right, but didn't feel right. Once again, it went back to MGS on GBC. That used the G instead of the A, which I thought was slightly more effective. Since I, personally, thought it was, I went with it. Either way, both could be considered "right", but when it came down to it, the note choice was merely a personal preference.

I have to say, the third note definitely does bring it out a tad bit more. Plus, if anyone was to edit this to their preference, I'm not one to argue against it. I'm just afraid of Fezuke coming in and saying that overlooked another wrong note in regards to 2A03 vs VRC6...then again, I'm still using the stock 4.2. ^_^

I guess I am a little too accustomed to the original MSX version. I just listened to the GBC version, and it was rather disappointing to my ears.
But then again, I prefer the japanese CastleVania II soundtrack, so I can be considered a weirdo.

Still, this is fantasic work, no matter how I listen to it.

It's more "I used a version nobody is used to and I want it to be that way." The MGS GBC version was based around the PS1 version (which I thought was...only okay). It sounded better to me, so I went with it.
