Okay, so I'm planning to create an 80-90s-like space shooter arcade game, called "GM Space War" (or "GM Uchuu Sensou") with Game Maker. Since I hadn't been planning with sound at all, I decided to make one track for it. This sounds decent in my opinion.

Fact: The "GM" in the title stands for Game Maker...

Yeah, sounds pretty decent, but the VRC7 channels are way too loud. Maybe lowering their volumes by 2 or 3 will make it sound a bit better. Also, perhaps it could benefit from some more development into the melody, but as it is, it's pretty good.

Good luck with your game.

Oh my god. I was making an old arcade styled shooter in Gamer Maker and I called it Space War.
Mind = Blown

Nice work, working the vrc7 custom instruments is a nightmare for me, and I don't see how people can use it so well.

Custom instruments are such a pain in the ass because of the anoying volume issues. I think there's a 4 meter level bar you can use to make the volume louder.

I took your advice and made changes to the volumes. This does sound better, so thank you for that. I also added an unfinished track, but I will finish that later.
