It's not your choice how many N163 channels people use. If they want to use 8 channels, let them do it.
Also, you came here just to enforce your opinion on others. In my eyes, this makes you an asshole.
On topic: I enjoyed this very much, DjJizzer5. Keep it up!

I know that you're more a developer than anything else, but if you have a problem, use Slimeball's build at [url=http://famitracker.com/forum/attachments/47019/sunsofttrackerv2.rar]http://famitracker.com/forum/attachments/47019/sunsofttrackerv2.rar

I'm on the fence on this. On the one hand I agree one probably shouldn't use more than, say, five N163 channels (even six will let a 19.8 kHz signal through that is audible to a good proportion of adults). But then again it's true that in the end this should be the author's choice and not something for the listener to bitch about (don't enjoy the 15 kHz hiss? don't listen).
I absolutely disagree on the asshole accusation though.

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to [url=http://www.famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=3633]request a hardware render.
i feel much more comfortable with 8 channels when I make songs with N163 expansion. and i made alot of songs with it. and as poodlecock, i use Slimeball's build. i dont care if it's far from the actual hardware, it doesn't make my ears bleed and .ftms still can be exported to .nsf. oh, how do 8-channel N163 .nsfs sound? without the hiss. yeah.
While it's your right not to care about the hardware outcome, the NSF-without-the-hiss argument kind of falls apart when you consider the fact that NSFs don't "sound" like anything on their own. It's emulators that are to blame (or perhaps thank!) for being inaccurate.
That being said, don't think I'm shaming you for using eight channels, or for using a custom build in order to do it. I do the same thing myself.

I took it too far with the asshole accusation, but Dwedit just came here to say that you shouldn't use 8 channels. DjJizzer5 probaly expected feedback on the song, and gets critisized for having a preference.
We need a new hiss emulation that's more accurate anyways. The hiss in FamiTracker is much louder than that a real N163 chip.
