This isn't my first composition, but it's the first one I'm showing off here. This is the "hub world" theme from Donkey Kong 64, and one of my favorite songs from that game. I'm really happy with how this turned out, especially towards the end. Enjoy! Criticism and feedback are appreciated.

A few words of advice regarding the .ftm.

1. The sawtooth, typically, should stay around Octave 1. This allows for deviation outside of that octave to sound normal, like hitting a low G in Octave 0 or a high D in Octave 2. Unless you're messing around with the sawtooth channel where there is no bass and you want a cool sound (take the introduction part in Akumajou Densetsu's "Prelude" for example), it's safest to stay at Octave 1.

2. Instead of some blank channels for the first few seconds, turn them into "echo" channels. Have them as extras until their main melodies come in. If that isn't enough, you could always use it for extra harmony. I'm not counting towards the end, as if a part is meant to stay quiet, you don't need the extra channels.

3. If any of these are implemented, it's important to understand the Pxx effect. Typically, I make one Pulse Channel P7F, two of them P80, and the last one P81. As long as you don't hit a high octave like mid-4 and above, the difference between the notes is miniscule at best and it prevents note clashing.

In all seriousness, though, this is a pretty good first post. I like how peaceful it is. I expect some great things out of you in the near future.

Welcome to the Forums.
