I used the 2A03 core chip in my earliest compositions, but they tended to be very simple and vastly underutilized the potential of the five available channels. That was about a year ago - I've practiced my skills and developed my talents as a chiptune songwriter a lot more, and I've decided to test my abilities by forgoing the extra channels and returning to my roots (get it? I'm getting to the "root" of the problem. I'm so clever!).
Feedback is appreciated - my actual songwriting could still use work but it's certainly better than what I put out before, and I think I did a good job bringing out the hidden potential of the 2A03 soundchip.
Okay, In my opinion, this is O.K. Now, granted, it's somewhat scattered. I think you've gotten the hang of utilizing ALL of the channels to their most extent.
However, as for the Musicality and overall sound of the song, it's not as good as it could be.
I'll agree that this is better than a LOT of things I've heard. The biggest problem I have is that I can't nail a solid beat pattern for more than 5 seconds. It keeps shifting by a half or eighth of a beat, and I lose it.
But I liked it none the less. If what you're saying is true, then I'm sure this is definitely an improvement. Keep up the work.

Thanks for the feedback. In regards to the changing beat, was that what you meant when you mentioned that it wasn't "as good as it could be"? Personally, it drives me crazy when I hear a noise/drum beat repeated over and over with minimal or no change - plus, I enjoy composing in different time signatures (this song has a bunch of 6/4 and 7/4 plus a few other odd meters) - perhaps that's what you picked up upon? I always considered it poor songwriting to show little diversity in one's beats and melodies, hence the changes you noticed (as well as the somewhat scattered songwriting, which I will totally own up to since it is often a problem of mine).
Thanks for your thoughts - I'll certainly keep them in mind next time!
Hey this isn't that bad, I enjoyed it a lot.
I do agree that it doesn't sound as full as it could, and it doesn't seem to flow altogether that well. but yeah, I enjoyed it, keep it up

It's hard to explain, but that's not what I mean. I mean how it shifts from starting on beat one, to the and of one, or the beat 3.
The 6/4 and 7/4 probably explains that bit.
Again, over all, nice tune.

That's an interesting workflow you've got, there. :P I had actually never considered using new tracks as a separate workspace.
This isn't bad. There are some cool sounds and ideas in here. Very in-your-face for just 2A03. It's a little busy for my tastes, and with all that energy, the melody seems to just kind of wander around aimlessly, but that's just me.
I always considered it poor songwriting to show little diversity in one's beats and melodies
True, many a boring song have been written this way, but it just goes to show that too much of anything is usually not in one's best interests. I guess what I'm trying to say is - be careful not to overcompensate.
