I wanted to do a version of the sigma Fortress 1 from MegaMan X with only 4 channels since I seen a couple of VRC6 remixes.

Use triangle drums, MegaMan toms, and try to match the snes versions as much as possible with the limitations. Enjoy!

Wow! Nice kick. The instrument 'Keyboard' is neat too.

I think the sustained notes are... sustained for too long. Drop the volume starting sooner, or toss in vibrato/tremolo after X number of beats.

Good track

Thank you very much, I took your advice, and tweak it a little bit, I also tweak the drums just a little.

The volume dropping stayed the same cause I want to match the original track but I throw in the vibrato because I remember when game like willow has done that.

Thanks a bunch for the vibrato tip!

It actually resembles the original track from MMX. It's incredible that you made it sound almost the same with only 4 channels. However, I found some wrong notes in the triangle channel, but it doesn't make it sound bad, in fact, it's almost unnoticeable(did I spell that correctly?)

Maybe I could fix it if you lent me the file, but I'm not sure if I will make it better or worse. However, I could try doing something.

You did great with this track.

Thanks a lot! Chiptune and famitracking is not one of my main talents, but its an addicting hobby of mine.

I did by ear, and this is off in a lot of places, but I struggle too much with notes and just got as close as I could (don't like to fine pitch). You can mess with the ftm file if you want its there to download, but it is messy and in wrong measure. Use at your own risk!

I still think you did great with this cover. Usually, those kind of covers suck, because this means that lots of channels get resampled and put into a very limited amount of them(4 or 5, if you use DPCM). I have now heard the original track again and noticed it is one semitone lower compared to your cover. You managed to transpose it to the next semitone.

And as I never promised, here's your ftm. I may have screwed it up, but still tell me what you think when you have heard it. I modified the triangle channel from rows 30 to 3F in the following frames: 04, 05, 06, 0E, 0F and 13. Something was wrong with the notes you put, and it sounded a little weird due to instrument 09, but now it may be fixed.

Also, let me tell you that doing covers by ear is the hardest but best way to do them. I have done some covers too, and I have had some troubles with notes that are hidden in the song, so you should be proud for making a great song to sound and fit so perfectly into only 4 channels, and without cheating, although you did wrong in some places, but that's natural. You should keep on improving your abilities with this tracker!

Thanks you for your comment! I'm getting a brainfart from listening to the Ftm. I think if I'm going to use these notes, It be best to shift the whole song, cause the new notes sound out of place, or maybe its just me. But thanks for tinkering with it. I'm going to compared with the snes and my file and do some research.

Anyway, at least in the spc file I have, it sounds something like that. But you should use the one you most like, since it's your own cover. And thanks for thanking me!
