Funny you mention Opeth, robro because I compared Sans Deli to Porcupine Tree about a month ago. Maybe prog-like tracks in FT are an unexpected match made in heaven.
I'm not as in love with this as everybody else, but it's probably just a taste thing. It's definitely impressive, but I kept waiting for relief in the style. The melody has wonderful variety but the Pulse1 stuff never lets up and I feel like it does the song a disservice. The crank up to high gear in 3D is great but I feel would be more effective with some juxtaposition.
But when I get this nitpicky it just means that I think a great song is capable of brilliance.
You're probably right, but I'm a theory noob who still needs to broaden his musical horizons quite a bit.
I'm horribly addicted to those bouncy arpeggio things in pulse 1, so you're probably right about their overuse...
It's nice to get some honest constructive criticism, and it's dually appreciated.
I'm curious to know what you meant when you mentioned 3D onward being more effective with juxtaposition, though. Were you talking about bringing back some of the elements from the beginning that those later frames were imitating?

I think ethostar is talking about having more contrast in the dynamics of the song. The intensity builds in a pretty much linear fashion until the very end so I think he's suggesting using moments of calm to make the really intense parts hit even harder. The aforementioned Opeth do that really well.
But it's your song and you're telling a story so maybe that wouldn't fit the vision.
edit: just gonna link my favorite track that does what I'm talking about.
Yeah, the linearity was intentional. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Still, I'll definitely give this sort of thing more consideration in the future; I've always got room for improvement.
