I finally got off my ass and FINISHED SOMETHING! :D
I started writing this almost a year ago, and picked at it for months.... after a while I just sort of stopped for some reason. Anyway, long story short, I'd completely forgotten how close I had come to finishing it until I showed it to Fezuke a couple of weeks ago, and he had mentioned it was practically done already (silly me).
A proper ending and a few finishing touches later, and I'm happy to be able to present to you "In Company of Death". It's something of an attempt at storytelling, but make of it what you will.
Oh, and here is the obligatory [url=http://www.mediafire.com/file/jisjj62mf40u56u/In_Company_of_Death.mp3]MP3. It contains higher quality samples, post-processing effects, stereo sound... yada-yada-yada.
Either way, thanks for listening!

I love the Castlevania/classical inspiration combined with the rock-like lead & percussion. The vibrato's really intense & the overall mood of darkness you've managed to pull off here is, quite frankly, better than any other Castlevania-inspired song I've heard.
And holy crap! That's one hell of a conclusion!

rainwarrior - I love your nonchalant seals-of-approval. :P
TechEmporium - Any parallels between this and Castlevania tracks are purely coincidental, I assure you. It's more likely that those artists and I had similar interests/influences (or maybe it's just because I'm using an expansion known primarily for its usage in CV3J)... but at any rate, don't get me wrong - I take no offense to such a conclusion.
It's funny; Fezuke has mentioned to me on several occasions how my vibrato usage is abnormally intense... I guess it must be true. Sorry if I ever doubted you, Mr. Fezuke! XD
Anyway, I might as well put it up here for the heck of it:
The track is supposed to tell the story of a man in the throes of death - he's just not aware of it for the first half of the tale. Up until that point Death is sort of whispering in his ear... it's an itch he can't scratch... an ominous feeling that won't go away.
Somewhere around frame 21 he realizes what's happening and the initial reaction is shock. After that he begins to understand the true gravity of his situation and reflects on some of the things he will never have another chance to appreciate...
...after THAT he begins to fight desperately against that which he knows is inevitable... but ultimately the battle is in vain, the song slows to a crawl, and, well... he dies.
Kind of depressing, I guess, but these are the places my imagination take me. :P

Zeph - As much as I appreciate the vote of confidence... no way, man. Those people are crazy. :P
It might be fun to enter, but my good ideas are so few and far between I don't think I'd be able to come up with anything worthwhile in the time-frame without forcing it.
