I really liked this tune, so I decided I'd cover it. I didn't aim to be 100% accurate, but it should be recognizable. :D

Anyway, LISTEN.

Edit: I fixed some mistakes, and added the part with the TRIANGLE SOLO.

It's funny, I wasn't 100% into this tune when I first heard it years ago, but it grows on me a bit more every time I hear it. Very good job.

Now if someone would just cover "Real Blue".

[EDITED THIS OUT; I TAKE IT BACK FOR BEING STUPID AND SOMEWHAT RUDE BACKSEAT MODERATING]

Anyway, ontopic: Solid cover - it's barely different from orignal at first listen. Listening to the original and the cover and they're both great. Are you going to continue the rest of the song? I'm really digging the triangle solo in the original (I became a sucker for those after listening to Testplus (test for triangle volume DPCM samples) and Offspring of Violin and Square Wave; I probably started enjoying prominent triangle when enjoying the music to the Pokemon TCG GBC game).

The original Artificial Intelligence Bomb is an original 2A03 NSF by Naruto dating all the way back to 2003. Bear in mind the very NSF format was in its infancy at the time, and while it sounds just like any other (good) NSF in this day and age, there really wasn't anything as well-made and impressive in terms of homebrew NSFs. Even to this day it's still very good, obviously, depite the fact NSF-making tools have evolved immensely since the original MCK days, and so have the techniques & the knowledge of the machine.

In the end what I'm trying to say is, it's a classic, and definitely a milestone in NSF history. :)

About this cover: I generally don't see the point in 2A03-to-2A03 covers. I've done one or two myself, mostly with the aim of studying another person's style or as a personal challenge. In spite of this, I think a cover of AI Bomb has its place, if only for the reasons stated above. I'm slightly disappointed at the slight rhythmic and melodic mistakes here and there (especially since it's so easy to import the original NSF and just copy from that!), and while I realise 100% accuracy wasn't the original aim, I think some things could be improved. That aside though, this is clearly the best AI Bomb cover I've heard in a while! Good job. :D

you could've added an expansion chip and made it more epic. just saying. but it's good the way it is. there are some notes that are off, but only 2-3. very nice cover.

If you're going to go as far as you've already gone, why not take a look at the MML and make it really 100% accurate?

I dunno...I've noticed that there are certain textures you can achieve with just 2a03 which are completely lost when you add more junk to it. The more subtle clicks and pops from sudden volume jumps or less drastic duty cycle changes ( 2 1 or 1 2 ) or same-channel echo details, get buried underneath all the added harmonics of the extra channels.

The hugeness of the tune hinges largely on the musical arrangement. This track is significant because, from a musical standpoint, it did so much with just 3 note-producing channels. Hell, just solo the sq1 and tri channels and have a listen, the tune sounds completely full with just those two. It has the melody and the bass, both outlining the harmony and producing the rhythm of the drums. Adding sq2, noise and dpcm were themselves extra channels in a sense.

And not only that, but it takes full advantage of the aforementioned texture which is exclusive to 2a03 tunes. The entire arrangement is completely ideal and I don't think there's any way to improve it. There's a lot going on in between the lines.
