This is my first 'proper' FamiTracker song - a cover of Reptilia by The Strokes.

Took me about 3 days working on and off, have a listen and tell me what you think, constructive criticism is welcomed!

I'm relatively new to FamiTracker but I tried to put as much effort as I could into this.

Some new instrumentation would really do wonders for this - you didn't use the triangle channel at all, so it's totally feasible to use it exclusively for percussion. The noise channel works quite nicely for hi hats, crash cymbals, and snares, but it's really weak at kicks. Similarly, the square channels are all pretty weak as a bass instrument. Many people go with the triangle or sawtooth for bass, since the low end frequencies don't get cut off by the NES DAC.

I'm not familiar enough with the original song to speak for it's accuracy as a cover, but it sounds good enough to me. The various instruments could use some work, too - I would highly recommend just looking around the forums, downloading some projects, and taking a look at how other people attempt to emulate various instruments.

The only other thing that stuck out to me as being kind of strange is, you let a single drum fill in the intro off-set the whole project by 6 lines - you can end a frame whenever you want by sticking a "D00" effect in there, which will let you line up the start of a frame with a new measure in a song.

I definitely look forward to hearing future things you produce. This is an awful lot better than my first attempts at using famitracker

Good job on this. You have a good musical ear, you just need to keep at it and you will get better at controlling the volumes, etc.
Try experimenting with echoes (both dual channel and single channel echo), detuning for a chorus effect, arps, etc. Using one channel for two different things, for example, switching between bass guitar and arppeggios. Those are all things that will help you sound like a expert of the 2a03.

The noise drums didn't sound good to me.

I see! I guess I'll be using the triangle channel a lot more then.

I agree, I think the bass was kind of difficult to hear in places.

I will do that.

Yeah, I didn't know how to fix it so I just had to work with it, but now I know how thanks to you

Thank you, this means a lot coming from you guys being experts and all :P

Thanks for taking time to give me feedback!

I'm going to try and create more drum like sounds for next time, and I will try out echoes.
