It was a little nerdy experimental day.

This is a pretty interesting take on the genre for 2A03 only...

...but dubsteb is bad, and this sounds pretty bad.

Why? In my humble opinion dubstep can sound more realistic than anything else in 2A03 . At least if you think of Caspa-like style rather than Skrillex over-9000-sounds-played-simultaneously (don't know what do you mean by "done right" ).

Not a dubstep fan, though. This was only an experiment.

"dubstep can sound more realistic than anything else in 2A03"

well, i think that i would rather go for dubstep that has some strong basses and high quality sounds, not some pulse waves...

also, not a dubstep fan either.

If you did this in VRC6, the Sawtooth would work MUCH better than the Triangle. I say try Dubstep one more time with the Sawtooth Bass. See how that goes.

Well, it still has some basses (at least I can hear them), try experimenting with very low octaves and subwoofer.

I agree that the tone is not perfect though, but for perfect realism I would use Cubase with some decent instruments.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it later. Anyway, I don't use triangle to generate the "dubstep sound", triangle is mostly used to simulate sort of subbass. Without it there would not be any bass at all.

you can still use sawtooth along with triangle, to make it sound more lowtoned.

i actually think sea's 2a03 attempts here come closer than 99% of any other NES dubstep attempts i've heard.

i think 50% square carries more wub than the vrc6 saw. perhaps the next best you can do is a bunch of FDS waves simulating high pass filters.

Obviously, that's a good idea.

Well, I somehow can't achieve the desired effect with sawtooth. It seems that it's not my day.

Gyms, sounds nice, I'll try to use it, but not today.
