Wow, it seems like in the past few days I've not had composer's block for a while. Here's another ( simple mind you, it's kinda my style )
Anyway, here's the FTM!

The overall melody and theme are okay, but it's really fatiguing to listen to. You can help break that by simply putting spaces or breaths in your melody lines.

If you agree that my edit sounds a bit more pleasant, try singing your original one and then try singing my edit...that'll be why.

Things that flow somewhere within the possible realm of our voices tend to naturally resonate with us. It's a neat psychological phenomenon and useful to keep in mind if you're composing with writers block or making things you're not too crazy about. There's a few litmus tests you can do during these times to check things and the voice test is a big one.

I didn't bother doing the rest after frame 08, it kind of all falls apart after that, lol.

Wow, that helped more than I thought it would when I read this. It really helps the melody flow better. as for after frame 8, I was running out of creativity and going back into my composer's block lol. Thank's for the edit, It really helps the song sound better.

hey, no problem : )

The concepts we're talking here is part of what musical phrasing is all about and it's incredibly important. Music flows in sentences just like any spoken language does and you have to look at all the different parts of a song like individual voices speaking or singing, interacting with one another.

Taking it a bit further, listen to the difference when I give the other two voices some room to breathe.

Also, this is a matter of taste, but I used Square 2 as a faint echo of square 1 to make it sound a bit more lively and airy. No sense in letting a channel go to waste, right?

edit: took it even further, using volume control with phrasing to make things a bit more expressive. again, it's all an attempt to mimic how i'd sing it.

Wow, This thread has actually improved my music composition skills greater than I had first expected. I had done an echo, but It didn't sound near as good as yours. Here is the new verison I've whipped up. Tell me if I overdid it with the rests XD.

i think it definitely sounds better. there are a few spots that feel a bit awkward to me tho. i think it's cos your release times are too sudden maybe.

edit: okay yea i think it was the release times. the awkwardness i heard was a sound design thing. if you look at my release time i put in there and listen to how it sounds it the mix, it's sort of simulating what it sounds like when a person is singing in a large room: he stops for a breath, but his his voice still kind of bounces around the room for a second and decays away.

since you've already got the echoes in sq1 and sq2, it sounds kind of awkward to have something else so up front and dry sounding.

Well, here's yet another version. I changed the FDS melody's waveform to 50% pulse. I also changed the last part of the FDS melody, the last frame of it was horribly out of place.

Edited for redundancy.

Edited again cause I forgot the FTM

Joining in the fun!
Changes:
-Added subtle 4xy vibrato to the lead that cancels when the note fades out.
-Changed the A-3 in frame 08 row 1C to a G#3. Sounds better IMO.
-Used Gxx note delay to delay the last note to the next frame (6 ticks aka 1 row) making it possible to keep the note before playing. To make it loop properly, I made an extra pattern for the DPCM channel (copying the old one) and put the B03 at the end of that.
