Hey! I just started playing with Famitracker a few days ago, and I'm totally new to the whole genre. That being said, please please PLEASE criticize my work and tell me how I can improve. I want to be able to use more channels (But I don't know how), and take more advantage of sound effects.
Anyways, enjoy. In order from worst to best.
EDIT: New song! It's called Sun Glare and it's very experimental, so stay open minded.
Oh, and next time if you would rather me just start a new thread, just let me know.

Ctrl+P > choose something in the "Expansion sound" menu.
I'd stick to the basic 5 channels until you really know what you're doing though.
Anyway those are decent beginner's tunes, you're on the right track... Just gotta learn how to use the NES hardware to your advantage.
In run.ftm, in a couple frames you forgot to cancel the last note that plays in the previous frame by inserting a note stop, causing it to get 'stuck'.
By the way, Vxx for 2A03 squares only goes up to V03. V06 is redundant (you should use V02 instead).

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to [url=http://www.famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=3633]request a hardware render.
You've got potential for sure. Now it's time to slowly learn how to use some effects to add more life to your tracks. But as PaulMann said, it's a good first attempt.

This is good stuff. Honestly, bluecadetcorey, you know how to write music in terms of harmony, rhythm & overall control of mood (aside from it showing a unique style).
But like the others have said, we know your music will improve greatly once you get a feel for FamiTracker; it's all a matter of learning all the ins & outs of your new instrument.
And yes; if this is your first time, it's certainly much, MUCH better than my first time. Keep it up.

@jrlepage
Yes! That is exactly what I needed! And I see what you mean about it getting stuck. Also, now I understand how to use the Vxx sound effect, effectively. Thank you!
@PaulMannIV
For the record, the last song was a spinoff of something I wrote on my acoustic guitar a few weeks ago. So I more or less know where I was going with it before hand. And thanks for the motivation!
@Fezuke
I know, that's the part I'm excited for!
@TechEmporium
Your compliments mean a lot And I hope I can get a feel for FamiTracker soon, the only other music I play is on my guitar. So sitting in a computer chair is a whole different ball game.
Next I'm going to cover a song I'm already familiar with ( http://youtu.be/C5biCmyJQtM ), and use it as a chance to experiment with what I've learned. Thanks so much again!
I've also played electric bass & piano before (& many people up here have some kind of musical background on conventional instruments as well as electronics).
You'll often see people up here talking about the technical aspects of an NES; as much as it can help to know them, they're not that critical if your main objective is to simply create music. Luckily, there's a wiki & the program's help file as well as the works posted up here (they're great study tools).
