Hi everyone.
So, I'm new to this forum.
I picked up the FamiTracker months ago, but since then, I never really used it nor tried to understand how it works, until last week.
I gave a look here and there, then decided to make a cover, to get started. I picked up something easy, but still untouched (as far as I know).
So here it is, Solomon's Key.
I'd really appreciate some feedbacks and, most important, advices on how to improve and fix my errors.
Like, if someone can show me how to use sound effects instead of my shitload of instruments, that would be awesome.
(I used some of them, but preferred making instruments anyway).
Enjoy the ancient-oriental unique music of this game. :3
Well, sorry for the double post, I guess I'll take it as a bump D:
So, I made a little step further and covered something with a blank instrument + expansion chip.
Since it's a GB music, I tried FDS in the first place, but it sounded wrong to me. So I took the N163, and its sawtooth really pleased me, so here it is.
Probably from one of the most unknown GameBoy game ever, I don't even know if Sunsoft made that, but the music is simple and catchy.
i like your instruments. Even though they are a lot, i think they keep you organized instead of applying all the effects on the spot. But that's my .02 and i am pretty new to this , too...

There's nothing inherently wrong with using lots of instruments, but I find they become a huge pain to manage when you've got 30+ of them (you're also limited to 64).
The other end of the spectrum is writing at 900bpm (speed 1) and putting in all the instructions manually. Personally, I get annoyed with how fast everything flies by.
It's really all up to you and how you want to track.
I'm not familiar with the GB title, but your Solomon's Key covers sound pretty good.

I already covered Solomon's Key. I can upload my FTM if you want. My FTM has all the instruments straight from the game itself. Also, I wrote it at 150 BPM. Hope this doesn't sound like I'm trying to show off or anything. But I thought uploading mine may help you. I won't upload it though until I get your consent.
First of all, thanks to everyone. Reading people's comments makes me proud of my efforts.
I'm looking forward to new projects, perhaps something more than covers, until I'll feel confident enough to make something from myself, so expect something more complex next time :D
@Doommaster1994: Sure, go ahead. I realized that watching other people's works is one of the best ways to learn how to do something, so I wouldn't mind at all.
Here it is. I hope you enjoy.
The only thing I didn't cover in this was the pitch frequencies. Other than that, everything's straight from the game, covered by me by hand.
Very impressive.
Beats mine in every single way, it's really clean and accurate. And speaking of instrument, they're stunningly precise, I hope one day I'll be as skilled as you :3
I only noticed a little thing which isn't a big deal.
In Frame 0A, Pulse 1, the pattern is actually almost identical as the 09, but the last four notes are[ul]B - 1
D - 2
G - 2
D - 2[/ul]Other than that, congrats for your nearly-perfect cover and thank you, because it really helped me figuring a few things out :D
Thanks! I'm glad you like it. If you need help with anything else, please let me know. I would be more than happy to help you out.
Also, I reuploaded the FTM with those notes.
