I entered in an NSF+ OHC over at Battle of the Bits earlier tonight. The participation rate wasn't spectacular (only 2 other people submitted something), but I still gave my entry everything I had. The theme was "Show me your moves" (hence the bizarre module title). This is the results.

It received an overall score of 31.793, which apparently is pretty good by BotB standards.
Enjoy.

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to request a hardware render.

Yeah, you're right about that. It's an issue I sadly didn't have time to address under strict time constraint. When you're given as little as an hour to come up with a full fledged entry, you don't have time to fiddle around with details!
I probably should've lowered the sawtooth lead, I think that would've solved the problem.
Thanks for the kind words, guys! :D

Also do you mind explaining what's the point of all those Gxx commands and those Gxx commands stacked on top of Gxx commands on Namco 7. I understand what the Gxx command does. I just want to know the theory of how it's used in your song.

If I can make a guess, it's probably to delay the echo to a certain point between the lines. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen it done.

Yeah, pretty much. Try removing the second effect column on that channel, you'll find the echo sounds much drier. It's not something that wastes your time too much, even. Just a matter of copying the column over each time you make a new frame.
Dear lord how did you make that in an hour.

The amazing part is it only took you and hour, it would take me at least 12 hours to come up with anything even remotely this cool.
I don't know if that's a real question or a rethorical one, but I'll try to do my best to answer it anyway.
To be fair, I didn't know I had this potential myself until I had a go at these. I usually don't compose out of lack of inspiration (covers really are my forte, which is why it took me this long to join BotB in the first place, it being an originals-only place). I think OHBs are the kick in the rear I needed to get me going!
What seems to happen is, after the countdown is over and the theme of the OHB is revealed, there's always something that pops up in the back of my head, whether a melody, general sonority or even just a particular instrument (as was the case with my first one, the jungle theme OHB: as soon as I saw 'jungle' I knew I could hear some sort of xylophone, polyrhythms and panflute kinds of leads). This was no exception: when gyms revealed that we had to "show him our moves", I knew I had to go Tony Thai style with a fast paced track, a crazy slap-ish bassline, some sweet 9th chords and a bendy echo-y sawtooth lead. mmmmm.
Then it's really a matter of getting it down in the tracker as quick as you can. When you're given a mere hour, you don't have time to fiddle around and change your mind too much. Especially when you spend about 5-6 minutes finding DMC samples, tweaking instruments, setting up other stuff in your module... That's also why you need to use certain techniques to shave off overall time. For example if you can avoid alternating Fxx, using too many different instruments, making new (different) patterns when you could be reusing the same data... Also never re-use patterns. You'll just waste precious seconds trying to find the pattern you want to re-use all the time, so just copy and paste and to hell with memory efficiency. :D
In my opinion, it's better to have a short song that sounds like it's finished (and preferably loops) than one that ends abruptly, which really makes it obvious you weren't fast enough (which in turns makes you lose points come voting phase). This module I posted here only lasts about 30 seconds, yet you all seemed amazed by the quality of it. Truth be told, when I was done with it I had about 20 minutes to spare, time I used to optimise the whole module however I could; adding the 2A03 squares about halfway in (and Namco 8 for the echo), adding the drum fill at the end, adjusting the mixing etc. Basically you're better off polishing up whatever small tune you have than spending your time making a super long module that ends abruptly and probably isn't as good as it could be.
tl;dr Spend your time wisely if you want to win OHBs!!
