Well, I've heard that to do your first original piece, it's best to use solely 2A03. I've seen so many "first originals" on SOYW with VRC6 and poor volume control.

I guess if this wasn't done as well as it could have been, I can't say I wasn't warned, eh?

I wish I could have made it longer, but eh, I usually lose my inspiration for a song about 5 minutes or so after starting; I spent a good hour or so on this one stopped for a while, extended it, then cut out the extension because it didn't work out.

I've always had a soft spot for slow and chord-heavy chiptune - my favourites, in fact, are probably Rushjet's Return to Control and HertzDevil's Offspring of Violin and Square Wave.

Anyway, enough wall of text! Point out the good and the bad here - I need it.

EDIT 1: Changed the volume envelopes of the square waves to be quieter and added some stuff to the envelope. Also, smoothed out the fade in. Triangle and noise percussion are more noticeable. Is this better or worse?

Eh...very high pitchiness kind of irritates me. Let me try something out...

That's a nice start. :) Keep making more!

My only criticism you probably saw coming: volume. The tune could use some volume envelopes and something quieter than 15 everywhere, too.

It's a nice chord progression. Such a track wouldn't really sound out of place in a game of some sort.

Would definitely benefit from some better instrumentation, starting out by crafting instrument sets that aren't constantly blaring at max volume.

@PaulMannIV: I kinda started making the extension get lower in pitch, but then it ended up that that part got very, very stale...

@jrlepage and Gamma: I'm proud of the fact that I managed to get great chords without any training in chords.
If you look, I'm pretty sure nothing is at 15 (so that they don't drown out the triangle wave) except one of the percussion instruments, due to the fact that higher pitches result in quieter noise. I see what you mean, though, because they might as well be at 15. I didn't really like the fact that all the squares have the same duty and volume envelopes, though. I need to work on this some more; I told myself that I would make the instruments more articulate but got discouraged after making the (cut) extension.

I actually tried to make this in my style (Akumajou Densetsu) and I realize that it's not much on pitch; it's Volume Control for the most part.
