So a while back, I found this little instrument pack for famitracker that included some sample songs and instruments. So I decided to edit a sample track that came with it. I really do not know who made the original track, but if I brutally mangled your track in some way, I am terribly sorry. Also, I'm fairly new to using Famitracker, so I don't have that much experience. This little track is a work in progress, so don't murder me about how the VRC6 channels are empty, I'll get there soon enough All credit goes to whoever made the original sample. And please, give CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I don't want constant amount of hate or something along the lines of: "oh, you stole this song, fuck you." Thank you
I managed to find the original and I now feel slightly humiliated due to the fact that my version is more of a rearrange and extension with slightly different instruments and tempo. Honestly, I feel kinda bad now. Probably going to get chewed out here. But the original was made by a wonderful artist by the name of tssf. Here is his post including the original ftm. http://famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=346 The file name is original1.ftm
I personally have no problems with people covering other people, or remixing or whatever. As long as credit is given to the rightful owner and that it's not a blatant copy. You should get away with it.
EDIT: After taking a listen to the original, yeah....You didn't change much did you? I would try covering an existing track from a game, or try writing an original. This is not enough of an edit IMHO. But hey, worry not, you shouldn't get chewed out as you say because you were honest about it right away, and didn't pass it as your own.

Do this. This will give you a clear goal in the way you want it to sound, so fumbling around with volume envelopes and duty cycles and all that will have more purpose. You might even learn some neat tricks along the way.

I'm actually trying to cover the V^6 soundtrack since I still have yet to see anyone do so yet, and I have a hankerin' to cover the Positive Force, Piercing the Sky, and Pushing Onwards tracks specifically. And also, I'm a bit terrified of being chewed out because I saw some forum posts here (before I decided to register) being completely told off by a few artists here; specifically one by the username of InterrobangPie, who is someone I look up to when it comes to Famitracker. So being "punched in the dick"-metaphorically- by a bunch of better artists is not something I want happening to me
VVVVVV covers are awfully ambitious for a fresh newcomer. I'm not saying you couldn't do it, but if you want them to sound *good* you'll want to do yourself the favor of getting in the practice and experience with the software before you attempt it.
Learn to crawl before you walk, and all that jazz.
As for the dick-punching, as long as you follow the forum's [url=http://www.famitracker.com/forum/rules.txt]rules you should manage to keep your virtual genitals intact just fine. No promises, though. :P
