I'm back! In my absence I saw that the Namco expansion was implemented...so of course that's the first thing that I wanted to try out! Here's a little swing thing with standard 12-bar blues changes.
Kind of trying to go for the type of harmonies that one would write as a sax section in a big band. I think it turned out sounding kinda Zawinul-esque. Like the stuff he was doing on the Weather Report album "Night Passage".

Listen on Beta 3 for best results.

That was really awesome. You really captured the swing feel. Kool sounding chords too!

Cool Song man. There needs to be more jazz like this. I feel like that jazz is one area not covered as often as some other areas of music on Famitracker.

This is neat.

The "sine" instrument is kinda interesting; it's a bit like the triangle in that the quantization makes all the difference. It's not just a sine, but a sine plus an aliasing that makes it ring a little.

Also, this sounds fine in Beta 4, because you only used 6 channels.

Thanks for the nice comments guys!

It's nice to be back tracking again. I just sorta got bit by the 8-bit bug again!

Rainwarrior, I agree - the low resolution and aliasing gives all these nice overtones which almost have an FM-esque sound. Like a DX7 vibraphone sound with an organ envelope. I like it! In Beta 4 it's listenable, but I don't like the way the sound dissolves into static at volumes below 9. It's wonderfully lo-fi, but all the subtlety goes away.

That bass reminds me of Ed, Edd & Eddy.
