First cover using FamiTracker. Only because it was short, easy, and catchy.

It's a very good cover. I'm not familiar with the song, but it sounds quite accurate.

It's not a particularly exciting/interesting/memorable track, and I think that's part of your problem with the feedback.

Also - everything has a default volume of 15, so the volume envelope you have on your Triangle instrument is unnecessary. The triangle is also only on or off, so whether you had made that instrument's volume 15 or 1 wouldn't make a difference.

Clearly you understand the software well enough to cover this song - raise the bar and pick something that sounds hard but possible to you. You might surprise yourself!

Wasn't necessarily going for an exciting and punchy as I was going for something my attention span could manage at my level of skill. I guess somethings not really as memorable if your not familiar with, or grew up playing. My childhood was mostly Zelda and Pokemon. I assume most people here grew up playing Megaman. First time I ever played was a year ago, and I could only ever beat the second one. I appreciate the game a lot more than I did before, but not in the same way I did playing games as a kid, which to me were more memorable. Either way, I can tell you seem to hold a similar appreciation. I do admit though, it probably isn't as interesting compared to the majority of the games soundtrack if your unfamiliar with it.

And the triangle, that was before I even knew what I was doing (and perhaps quite possibly a little bit of OCD).

Haha. You're doing just fine. The fact of the matter is most of the members here have heard it all (many of them enter in competitions); something like this will likely be viewed as a waste of their time.

As just a piece of music - it's fairly interesting, but music only goes so far. The other half of the battle is sound-design, and that's where this track falls short. It's not bad, just lackluster, like I said.

The good news is - being ignored here is FAR better than attracting negative attention. Trust me. If you post something here and avoid getting heckled, at the very least you aren't on the WRONG track.

Not a bad cover, a few off notes though:

You're missing some all-important triplets in Sq1, frame 00, rows 10-12. Use the Gxx effect for this, like so:
C#4 . ...
D-4 . G02
C#4 . G04

Quite a bit is off in Sq2 - frame 00 rows 20-3F, frame 02, also a few redundant Vxx effects later on - the pulse width envelope in your instrument has higher priority than the Vxx effect. A V02 in the places you've put them wouldn't be correct anyway.

Now that you say that... Crap. Square 2 is REALLY off. Thanks for pointing that out.

This is the feedback I'm looking for. I'm still getting the hang of learning these songs by ear.
